Sitting behind the wheel, almost barely able to see over the front of the truck, Morgan turned and looked at Colton, her hands gripping the steering wheel. Trying desperately to make sure they were at ‘ten’ and ‘two’, adjusting them a few more times. “Alright... what’do I do first?” She asked for about the twentieth time since the switched seats in the truck.

“--Ya! Stop right there, you punk!”

Jongsuk swore under his breath, jaw tightening and shoulders squaring in annoyance. 

There was no way that he could make it out of the convenience store without a scene now-- not after the clerk had to go and shout at him from across the damn room. Every head in the store had swivelled in his direction, following the finger the old man was jabbing at Jongsuk as he yelled for him to stop. Sure, Jongsuk could outrun the geezer with ease, but the commotion was sure to attract the patrolman he’d spotted taking a smoke break out front, and that was where things could get messy. 

So since running was out of the question, that meant he’d have to bluff his way out of this one. 

Slowly turning on his heel, Jongsuk fixed the shop owner with an unamused stare, his hands still shoved deep in his pockets. 

“You, boy. You empty your pockets right now! I saw you stuffing them!” The owner snarled as he marched right over to Jongsuk, finger still raised until he was close enough to jab it right into Jongsuk’s chest. “Show me your pockets, you punk.” 

Jongsuk’s lip curled in affront. “Ya, old man. Watch what you’re saying.” His tone was low, lazy and disinterested. “I didn’t take shit.”

Location: Ministry of Magic 2016 Graduation Gala

Otto didn’t even know why he attended these things anymore. It made sense when he had to, or when he had just been employed by the Ministry and felt like he had to be there to build a reputation. But time moved quickly in the Ministry. The people he passed every day forgot his name almost as quickly as they learned it. He became just another passerby -- a familiar image in the corners of their eyes as they made their way to their floors to work until lunchtime. Otto didn’t mind the Ministry as a work place because his job was more exciting than a lot of the others and it allowed him to bow his head and do work without being bothered much. 

The Ministry Galas were what he minded. He never would have thought that a place that crushed thousands of souls on the daily between mountains of paperwork and constant streams of bad news, would always be dragging those same tired people to extravagant gatherings. He thought that by now he could probably just fade into the background and disappear, but there was something that caused him to go about an hour before the Gala started this year. The blue suit, sticking out of his closet a bit farther than the rest of his clothing, positioned between dress robes and muggle clothes; it called to him somehow. And that’s how he ended up in the packed Ministry, at an event commemorating a Hogwarts graduating class he never met and probably never would, with a drink in hand and his back against the wall.

It seemed though, that he wasn’t the only one uncomfortable with the event. Another body joined him against the wall, sidling perhaps a bit too close to get away from the crowd. Otto glanced out of the corner of his eye and there was Benjy Fenwick himself -- the biggest name in technology and in all honesty, one of Otto’s biggest role models. The two had met in passing, and each time Otto had only been able to manage out a faint greeting and a head nod. Tonight though, with the crowd keeping them both pressed against the wall and the buzz of alcohol flowing through his veins, perhaps it’d be different. “Evening,” Otto said, deciding it’d be quite rude not to offer up a greeting. He decided the only way the man would be against the wall and not mingling with people on his same level was because he was waiting for someone. “Looking for someone in particular, Mr. Fenwick? Perhaps I can help.”

↪ SOLO DETAILING A MEMORY EXPERIENCED ALONE THAT SHAPED YOUR MUSE

There’s a window high above the storage shelf in the basement. It’s a tiny thing that is too dirty to allow any light through, and it’s barely big enough for Jongsuk to reach a hand out. Though it doesn’t happen often, on days that the house is empty, he climbs up on that rickety shelf and stretches his hand through the open window until he can feel blades of grass against his fingertips. It’s the only glimpse of the outside world that Jongsuk has been allowed since he was taken from his mother.

One day, Jongsuk is sitting perched on the storage shelf, hand outstretched and eyes closed in content as sunlight warms his fingertips, when he feels something bump his hand. At first, he startles, banging his wrist smartly against the window frame in his haste to withdraw his hand, but then he hears a tiny meow come from above. Transfixed, he rises to his knees to peek outside.

He’s met with a tiny, furry little face and another squeak of a meow.

The kitten is small enough that it slips through the window with ease, chasing Jongsuk’s hand. It’s far too little to be out wandering on its own and is desperate for a bit of affection. The kitten tumbles into Jongsuk’s lap, narrowly missing the shelf altogether, and the instant that the helpless little thing looks up at him and squeaks again, Jongsuk is smitten.

It’s tricky keeping the kitten hidden from the old man. His foster mom doesn’t bother to visit Jongsuk down in the basement, and for once he’s glad for it– if only because that’s one less person to hide his new friend from. He manages to keep the kitten a secret by tucking her away in a beaten up armoire that he cleans out. He fashions her a bed from his spare shirt and shares what food and water he does get with her. Jongsuk feels guilty because he knows that the little kitten needs more than he can give her, but he does the best that he can with the promise that once she’s a little older, he’ll slip her back through the window so that she can have a real chance.

Almost two weeks pass before the old man finds her.

DIANE: Hollis, where the hell have you been? Ava's been keeping me locked up in here like a prisoner.

HOLLIS: Well, why didn't you call me?

DIANE: Because that witch took my phone. She's been giving me pills. Just find me the damn wheelchair and get me the hell out of here!

[m3rteuil]

ROMAN: You know what you want for Christmas? You want the bike, right? It's the bike. But you think it's too expensive. See, I know how you think. Speak up. If you don't ask for anything, it's what you get, nothing.

TAMBLYN: Okay. There's this guy, Billy Schnar, he's really cute.

ROMAN: Billy Schnar?

TAMBLYN: You know who he likes? Guess!

ROMAN: Who?

TAMBLYN: Melissa Thomas, you know her? The one with braces and ugly red hair. She thought Israel was in Europe. You know why he likes her? Guess!

ROMAN: Because she's stupid.

TAMBLYN: No, because she's got boobs! Or it looks like she does, but she doesn't. She wears a bra which squishes her fat together... and makes her look like she has big boobs. Pop, I'm gonna die if I don't marry Billy Schnar. I'm gonna die all because Melissa has boobs? That's just way too tragic, even for Shakespeare. Okay, Pop, so that's why for Christmas, I'd like a bra. To enhance what I got, which is more than Melissa.

ROMAN: You're too young.

TAMBLYN: Pop, you can't negotiate my boobs. Too young or not, I've got them. I'm a woman. It's hard to see through my clothes.

ROMAN: The answer is no. Keep your mind on books, not boys.

DISPATCHER: (over the radio) Complainant still does not wish to be contacted.

MARITZA: Oh, well then, beautiful! Then why don't we just leave, huh?! Why don't we just let you figure this out all by yourselves, huh?! I mean, it bothers you enough to call, at least have the balls to say that it was you!

SASHA: (laughs)

MARITZA: What?

SASHA: Bosco said the exact same thing.

MARITZA: Thanks, Sasha.
