Shock Collar is the story I've written in most this year! Hi, I have a question, I’m not into pet play but I have a lot of curiosity and I love learning. I saw that you’ve mentioned shock collars a couple of times, they sound scary, are they safe to use? Also do you use them as punishment or just in general? I’m probably just uneducated but I only know shock and electricity to be used at hospitals or as torture, I didn’t know it was used for play. Is this something a lot of dominant leaning women use and as I submissive is it something I’d have to expect and suck up? Being electrocuted doesn’t sound fun.

There's debate among the community on the safety of collars RE: the application of electricity against the neck and in close proximity to the spine.

I don't have a study to show you, this isn't something that's been examined closely, but shock collars as designed are intended to be correction tools for dogs. In my view I find there isn't much risk (to people) as far as the zaps are concerned. The dogs the devices are made for are half to a third of the weight of the person that would be wearing it. People's skin is also much thicker than a dog's. You don't hear reports of devices harming dogs (specifically with the electricity component.), and I have yet to find a news report of one harming a person.

That being said it's still a collar with a pair of metal prongs at the throat. Be extremely careful as over tightening, jerking around, or having it caught on something can cause those prongs to dig in painfully and possibly leave wounds that in turn could turn into an infection.

So are they safe to use? No one can say with certainty, but in my prolonged interactions with them I find them a fairly safe toy. The only marks that are left are the indentions from the aforementioned prongs that did not last more than 30 minutes.

"Do I use them as punishment..." I use them only in scenes. If there were to be punishment aspects, it would be for the scene. IE "If you walk on your feet I'm shocking you." "If you speak without barking I'm shocking you" "If you refer to yourself with first person pronouns I'm shocking you."

Mainly I use them to hurt.

The pain however, is minimal. Personally I enjoy wearing the highest settings of the collar. It's surprising. The anticipation makes you crazy. But the pain is the level of a bee sting that fades instantly. Your partner pinching you with their fingers could cause more pain and damage.

So yeah, it's a mind game. There's a heavy collar on your neck flashing every few seconds. There's knowledge that at any moment, no matter how far your partner could just hurt you. No warning, no build up you're just getting hurt.

And then it's done.

And they're laughing at the pathetic response you gave.

Real answer, it depends on the person and more importantly YOU. You can set boundaries. You can tell them you're worried. You can express your feelings and if you want to try one day, start slow. Collar is a misnomer. They can be easily wrapped around arms, legs, or even pressed against the tummy or ass. There are also other toys designed specifically for use in intimacy that involve electricity (Violet wands as an immediate thought)

Shock collar is from amazon. Any device made for a large breed dog should be what you're looking for. Just make sure it actually shocks, some of them are vibrate only/sound only.
