Sometimes, you're just not fast enough.

Above, see how Commander Lenzor Kerman arrived in orbit of the newly discovered Eeloo to make a new discovery of his own - someone had gotten there first. 

Lenzor cruised up to and around the USFC's Discovery 11 for some time, making entirely respectful and not at all obscene gestures through the command pod window. Unfortunately, the crew of the Discovery didn't seem to notice, so busy were they ticking boxes on a list of 'space places been to'.

Well, shortly after Lenzor had had his fun, the Discovery burned for landing and Lenzor corrected his orbit in preparation for the same. Pictures of his landing to follow.

Additional Note:

The Discovery 11 was scheduled to fly to Dres on December 27th but the vessel's destination was changed when USFC scientist Eeloo Kerman discovered our solar system had a seventh planet. Wanting to ensure that the USFC landed on Eeloo before PARP, Edward V. West, the head of the USFC, okayed the change of destination on Decemeber 26th.

Dres is now the target of the Discovery 12, which will, if all goes to plan, be launched later this week.

Top Left: 

Eeloo - an ice covered dwarf planet, roughly the size of our Mun. Eeloo was discovered on Boxing Day by USFC scientist Eeloo Kerman, hence the name.

Top Right: 

The USFC's Discovery 11 in orbit of the ice covered Satellite. Commander Henbree Kerman and his crew brought the ship into orbit at 02:44pm this afternoon.

Science Officer Seefrod Kerman steps out of the command module to fix a minor ship malfunction. His first words upon stepping out of the module: "Crikey, the sun looks small from way out here."

Additional Note:

The Discovery 11 took 3901 days (kerbal time) to get to Eeloo. At present, the dwarf planet is 86,687,924 km from the sun - which is 14,737,286 km further from the sun than Jool is at its orbital apoapsis. The Discovery 11, therefore, has travelled further from Kerbin than any other USFC rocket.
