Golduck can be found swimming gracefully in lakes, using their slim, long limbs to easily move through the water, or on the banks of said lakes eating fish Pokemon they have caught.

When Golduck swims at full speed, its forehead begins to glow and it can use its telekinetic powers to make its prey seize so it can more easily catch them.

Golduck is frighteningly fast, swimming faster than any human ever could and is regarded as one of the fasted swimming Pokemon in the world, and they can also swim for two days straight by using just their tails.

In the past, it was believed that the red part of a Golduck's forehead granted supernatural powers to those who possessed one, so they were over-hunted for a while.

There are many old tales of Golduck punishing those who defile their rivers, dragging them away into the waters, never to be seen again.

Pokemon: Shiny vs. Default, 0054-0055

Alright, much shorter one today. Despite being elevated to mascot status thanks to the anime, and being Masuda’s favourite Pokemon, and being available in one form or another in every single main series release besides pre-DLC SwSh, Psyduck has never received any alternate forms. No Mega, no regional variant, no G-max, it’s just the same thing from the word go.

Psyduck is a Pokemon I love for its character, but I’m less wild about in terms of its in-game capabilities. Golduck is just sort of there. Also, I still find it weird that the Gold Duck is called Psyduck, and the Psychic Duck is called Golduck. Yeah they’re both psychic but Golduck actually has control of its powers.

We’ll start with Psyduck itself.

Okay, this is a good start. One benefit Psyduck has from its mascot-status being more... lowkey, is that Psyduck’s shiny actually has a colour variation! Nothing lame like Pikachu or Jigglypuff. Nothing very minor like Meowth or Clefairy. Psyduck’s shiny is a nice shade of teal-blue, and I would absolutely take it if I found one. At the same time, though, Psyduck’s default colours are still iconic, and thus I’ll declare this one a draw!

Now, let’s cover the second form, Golduck!

Aaaaand you beefed it. The skin barely changes and the pink beak and webbing look awful. It looks like sunburned skin. Default wins.
