When it attacks, Cloyster closes its shell and swallows water, using the pressure to shoot its spikes out, and it also uses this method to move around in the sea by shooting water out of its rear.

Although Cloyster sometimes opens its shell, its true innards have never been seen.

Cloyster's shell is so hard that it can barely be hurt by a bomb, but it its shell does get damaged, the bruised areas swell into spikes that is uses to attack, and its been found that Cloyster who live in areas with hard tidal currents grow more spikes on their shells.

Cloyster's shell cannot be opened by anyone but itself, even bythose with superior strength.

Slowpoke tails are a favorite snack of Cloyster, and they have been known to come up on land to look for Slowpoke at times.
