Kids where I live are fucning wild they'll make a joke about their absent classmate being deported and then someone else will be like no he actually did have to go back to Mexico and do some paperwork or something to come back and then everyone gets all serious and quiet but then someone else will be like ya I just talked to him he'll be back in 2 weeks

like part of me is like *rolls eyes at teenage boys* another part is like dang at least these kids use humor to get through stuff and the other part of me is like I wonder if less Mexican parts of the usa really have any idea what it's like for the ppl here bc I feel like in CA, esp certain pockets of CA, the culture and knowledge and experiences are nothing like what, say, a white person in white af Kansas who watches fox news and thinks immigrants are gonna steal their job is like, like the reality is nothing like what the ppl who fear immigrants think it is

usa white ppl are telling each other to yell "la migra" rly loud if they see ICE

but like.....actual Mexican kids from actual Mexico yell that to each other as a joke, like it's a v common joke (even if its not the nicest one), at least in my area (central ca), so like....idk how effective or helpful white ppl yelling la migra would be
