So I have raging tinnitus, as well as I had an earpod in, listening to a podcast when buying a thing at the gas station earlier tonight
and mumblecore shaggy/archie lovechild audible-noise'd some kind of greeting to me when he deigned to finally turn around and stop talking to the kid next to him to process my order
and I actually thought the low utterance of noise I heard was some dark underbeast from the nether regions moaning a Cthulhulian SIGH as it ruled underneath the dead crust of earth BUT NO It was this clerk saying "hi" or "what's up' or 'here's some balls' or SOMETHING at me.
It took TOO LONG of a second for me to register, and say something in reply (this all happened in a quick beat, I already was handing him my princely $5 bill AND SINCE MY TOTAL WASNT ANNOUNCED I THOUGHT THAT MIGHT BE OFFERED) and he sarcastically goes "Uh... OKAY THEN" as if I had given him AN INHUMAN SILENCE FOR MINUTES UPON MINUTES
