You know what I don’t get? People who put “No racists, sexists, or homophobes” in their dating profiles. Like, do actual racists, sexists, and homophobes identify as racists, sexists, and homophobes? 

Intuitively, that feels false to me. If for no other reason than because every villain is the hero of their own story. 

I think “racist”, “sexist”, and “homophobe” are inherently negative words, and given that no one would voluntarily want to ascribe a negative label to themselves, racists, sexists, and homophobes will always find a way to justify their beliefs/actions.

In fact the only situation I can see a racist, sexist, or homophone identifying as a racist, sexist, or homophobe, is when they say something like:

If *doing insert something that is generally considered positive* makes me a racist/sexist/homophobe, then I’m a racist/sexist/homophobe.

Maybe those people on Tinder are talking about people who’ve had their beliefs/actions challenged, who then retaliated by giving the if dash makes me X, then I’m an X-ist defence, and then afterwards went on Tinder to swipe on profiles. It’s a very specific demographic.

Menschen einfach etwas komplett falsch interpretieren, als es von dir eigentlich gemeint war und es euch am Tag danach wieder einfällt, was vorgefallen ist und ihr am liebsten auf der Stelle im Erdboden versinken wollt?
