Biffy Clyro - Rocco del Schlacko - 09.08.2014
Looking out the window on Saturday morning made me fear the worst, but for once, the weather forecast was correct and the afternoon was sunny, even hot. Some light rain started at midnight, but it didn’t bother me much as I had put on wellies and brought a rain jacket anyway. I only realised how lucky we really were the following day when one thunderstorm followed the other…
We missed the first three bands playing that day and I have no reason to regret that decision as they certainly weren’t more my cup of tea than those we saw perform. My apologies to their fans, they’re definitely good at what they’re doing, but punk-rock and the likes are just not my kind of thing at all. It was a LONG wait as Biffy only entered the stage at 11pm – but then, as usual, with the first notes, everything else was forgotten ☺
As you can see from my photos, I witnessed the gig from a – for me – uncommon perspective, i.e. rather far from the front. However, it was a great spot to really appreciate the lightshow and the pictures are a nice complement to those I took at Biffy’s Rockhal gig last year. Another advantage: sufficient space for dancing!
Simon greated the audience with some sentences in very good German (including the important info „James isst viel Wurst“ = James eats lots of sausages LOL). Well, I can’t of course know how well his German is beyond those few samples, but I was impressed with his pronounciation. You could have thought another band from Germany was on stage and not one „von motherfucking Schottland“ (not Simon’s fault that we don’t have an adequate word in German ;) )
The audience to me seemed a bit calmer than during the preceding performances, i.e. not that much crowdsurfing and mosh pitting (Is that a word? If not, it should be!). The crowd was still much more into it than the one in Luxembourg last year, but either something is wrong with my ears, or there REALLY were no „Mon the Biff“ shouts :/
Biffy put on another excellent show with only one little disappointment for me: again, no „Machines“. It simply is my all-time favorite song of theirs, I can’t help it. Ah well, at least I heard it live at Rock-A-Field back in 2012 ☺

Hey guys, I know im being a pain but please please please if you are using my photographs for anything and are cutting out my watermark at least tag me in the photo on instagram with jessicalscheer or on twitter with @jessicalscheer I have no issue with you using the photographs, just some credit would be nice because I spent my day taking photographs of everyone and not talking and meeting and getting the photographs I would have liked with Lij. I really hope you all understand. Thank you! :) xo
