the way sam and dean talk about alex in 09x19 is so ooc for both of them. both of them are ALWAYS on team "we don't kill humans regardless of their crimes" but for some fucking reason they're considering killing alex bc she was forced as a child into being a lure for vampires. dean of all people knows what it's like to be used as bait as a child. he knows that's not a real choice. yes, he has the moc, but he feels guilty over killing human traffickers bc of it in s10. there's no way he'd actually be okay with killing alex. even if dean's attitude was entirely bc of the moc, sam would still be against killing her.

Alex Annie Alexis Ann (09x19) is an interesting episode. For one, it actually paints the boys, particularly Dean, in a terrible goddamn light. The fact that the show just kind of moves on from the fact that Dean was planning on murdering a 16-year-old girl is fucking bonkers. And don't think I'm letting Sam off the hook--he basically goes along with it without once going, "Hey, that's not good, right? Child murder?" He (and the show) was somehow more worried about Dean popping a murder boner when he was killing a vamp instead of, again, the threat of child murder. Sam, buddy. Priorities (especially after briefly paralleling him with Alex... which I won't touch with a ten-foot pole except I probably will in fic). Your worried glances (that honestly make it look like you're afraid that Dean's gonna pop off on you if you disagree with him than actual concern... which he totally would, tbh) is not a substitute for an actual conversation. I know, I know, Mark of Cain, blah blah blah, but hot damn. Jody, you really ought've kneecapped them for that one. Or put them back on the FBI's Most Wanted list. Something.

Anyway, while I'm only slightly bummed that we never did get the Wayward Sisters spin-off (only slightly because I'm not convinced the CW would have done it well), I do think it would have been awesome to have more of Alex. There's a lot to explore with her: her past, how that effects her relationship with Jody, how she'd view monsters and victims alike, etc. If they were smart about it (which again, CW, so kinda up in the air), I think it would have made her easily the most interesting character in that series. She does get one other episode where she's a central focus, but a character arc with her is something that I think would be better off explored slowly over time. So what I'm saying is Wayward Sisters would have been great if I wrote it and it was all about horrific family trauma instead of whatever they were planning which was probably too action oriented and not enough like early seasons of Supernatural.
