The "buried" label on lapis does indeed appear to refer to exposure to air
Does anyone have any idea what the word "buried" could be referring to on the new ore generation chart?
guessing now that the brief mention of shaders in today's snapshot changelog might be a direct precursor to mojang adding dynamic lighting functionality into the base game 👁️👁️ this could be used for making the glow squids actually appear to emit light, as well as for implementing some kind of mining headlamp which is something a lot of people have been asking for
New ore generation as of snapshot 21w08a, although there is currently a bug drastically reducing how much iron is spawning. Mojang says they will be releasing another snapshot tomorrow to rectify this.
They are also implementing more air-exposure-inhibited spawning behaviours (i.e., some ores will spawn with decreased frequency on cave walls, and will require active mining to reach)
