October snuck up on us, un-ironically draped in a sheet and waiting to shout “BOO,” ready to stop my heart and take my breath wherever it is those lost moments go.

You held my hand just a bit too tightly in those last days of the full moon. In those last minutes of pretending to love me.

A sign I never saw coming.

Next year this will be old news. Something no one will want to listen to as we begin to gather for family festivities we’re already too old for.

Writing it down will have to suffice.

Like so much else, we will fade into the pages I let gather dust tucked under my bed. And maybe next October will finally feel like just another month.

Happy Home Designer tip! [ More Rooms ]

If you have done the “Choosing A Layout” lesson using your handbook, the next time you Visit a villager’s finished home, you can speak to them and suggest a New House (Not the same as the “Deluxe Remodel” option.) This will take you and the villager to Nook’s Homes to speak to Lottie and allows you to select a Bigger House or a Smaller House. ("Smaller house” should be the basic options you already have if you have done the "Choosing A Layout” lesson), “Bigger House” will add a Room to the back or the side and also always you to add an Upstairs or Basement. (Also, the exterior size of the house does not matter; you can have multiple rooms on the smallest exterior options.)

Doing this will also take away the need for a Theme and the title will become “I’ll leave it up to you!”, which could be helpful if you find a favorite villager but hate their theme.

You can also select New House several times. (I don’t know yet if there is a limit to how many times you can do this, so be careful!) If you ever regret where you put the extra room, you can change it!
