This is a very excellent Natsume.
Anyway Deca-dence episode 10 was really fuckin good, and also like, as heavy and hard to deal with as I expected. Shockingly enough, the fact that Natsume’s entire world up to this point has basically been completely fake and Kaburagi’s been lying to her this whole time? Yeah it bummed her out. Episode I think it was 7 delved a bit more into Natsume’s exact shounen protagonist mindset and how it’s honestly more of a self-actualisation type thing, and seeing her own desire to change mean basically nothing because of how this world worked against her, it sucks. And our girl Tomorin gave a fucking really great performance that sold me on Natsume’s like, combined feelings of anger, sadness, and just general emptiness. Really good shit.
But there’s still hope! Kaburagi’s letter for Natsume, that confession of how she drove him to live and push his limits, and how he’ll leave afterwards, it gets her up on her feet, it gets her to tell Kaburagi to get his ass in gear, and most importantly it means Tomorin can do a Kabu impression in the midst of a fairly serious scene which was nice to listen to and lightened the mood really well, just does a great job selling you on this pair’s friendship.
And I gotta fuckin say dog, I’m so happy it’s just friendship. Thanks to Arte last season, I’m fresh off the heels of a show that took a sort of mentor and student dynamic between two characters that were pretty far apart in age, and made it romantic. I wasn’t really fond of that. Deca-dence is actually like, not doing shit like that, not wasting our time on something that literally only detracts from the appeal of the show, epic.
And then our I guess setup points for the last 2 episodes are one Gadoll managing to like, inject eggs into this one dude and grow out of him and eat a ton of shit to get fucking huge (scary) and Hugin killing Kabu’s avatar right in front of Natsume and promising to kill her next (even scarier). Should be fun.
Good episode.

Happy birthday, Ami Mizuno!
So you know that thing weebs do on a favourite character’s birthday where they’ll like eat that character’s favourite food or something?
Yeah I made a sandwich. Crazy. It’s just butter and cheese slices. This almost feels cheap since my usual breakfast routine is basically this but toasted, but who cares. Anyway this bread was good, felt really spongy by sliced bread standards, pretty epic stuff. Ami’s got good taste in food if she likes sandwiches so much.
Sometimes people even put merch of the character in question by the food item, but these are the only things I even own with Ami on them, and I couldn’t be bothered going to the effort of setting a plate of food up with some manga volumes for a photo, so separate photos it is. But hey these are cool though, I’ve still not read the manga oops, and going off of Crystal I think I prefer 90s Ami, but like, she still looks super pretty on them, I’m happy I got these. I actually got the Eternal volume in Edinburgh from a shop where I saw an Ami plush, but I couldn’t really tell if it was a licensed plush or not and it looked kinda shit anyway so I passed.
And then here’s what’s still my favourite picture of Ami. From my favourite episode of Sailor Moon too, which was all about Ami. Girl’s really great in the 90s anime. Wasn’t fond of the inner senshi in Crystal just being accessories to Usagi, but they’re all fleshed out quite nicely in the 90s anime, Ami especially being someone who gets a lot of really nice episodes devoted to her. Now the character writing in the 90s anime for the inner senshi’s still not like, majorly amazing or anything, they’re still sorta status quo characters and a lot of the development they get will just maybe be one thing across a single episode that’s never really relevant again, but in Ami’s case that stuff was so consistently enjoyable anyway and her personality and design so likeable that I never really minded. She’s just so smart and sweet and cute! Despite having one of the most subdued personalities of the inner senshi she’s still just as passionate as the rest of them, case in point being how she seeks out the musician who composed a song she liked to approach him with her own lyrics she wrote, from the episode the above image is from. Ami’s amazing is the point I really love her, happy birthday Ami.
Re:Zero s2ep10 was pretty good, certainly felt like an episode where a good amount was learned and Subaru’s actually going to make forward progress with it all, so that’s pog. Also they kept Satella’s various aishiterus and later aishites around a bit longer and they continued to be freaky as all fucking hell, epic!
You know I was under the impression I'd literally never even heard of Xenoblade until Shulk was added to Sm4sh, but I'm watching a Scott the Woz video about Mario All Stars that reminded me of how I have that one Skyward Sword release with the symphony CD. And I got this game on like fucking launch day and I always loved these little booklets showing off other Wii games so I definitely would've read this one, meaning I've known about Xenoblade for like, longer than I thought I did at least
