im watching the recent defunctland video about disney animatronics & got to the part where executives were terrified at the sheer size of the dinosaur animatronic prototype
i wonder how those scientists & engineers felt while building the earthmover

why did the earthmover try to blast v1?
it is programmed to blast ground robots in general, threat or not
it is programmed to assume any unfamiliar robot is the one built to counter it
it is the earthmover that v1 was created in & recognizes its danger

i wonder what life was like on an earthmover
how much time were the first inhabitants given to grieve the earth, before having to wake up to an 8-hour work day?
were there schools on the earthmover? did teachers have to describe grass and trees to children born on the back of metal?
could there only be pale white and yellow lights? or did they hang up christmas lights every year?
did old couples long to swim at a warm beach? did young ones imagine what it would have been like?
and when the sky went black, could they still dream of a brighter future?
