Gratitude 101
grat·i·tudeˈɡradəˌt(y)o͞od/
noun
the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
In this day and age we can at times feel like happiness is unreachable.
We often have the perception that we would feel better, be more relaxed, HAPPIER… if we were on vacation somewhere a drink at hand, if we get promoted, once we settled in our new home, once our coworker stops belittling our work (and I am not saying those affirmations are false. I could be completely relaxed and happy right now in Mexico drinking a margarita…but that’s not the point). My point is, as a society we puts lots of focus into the wrong things. Perhaps our sense of happiness is out of wack contributed partially by a combination of our busy lives and Capitalism. We spend our days bustling around like busy bees and the effect of Capitalism over the years has brought us to feel like money and social status is everything. How many of us have been guilty of comparing ourselves to others? Wanting more, only allowing ourselves to be truly happy when we get those “big ticket items” in life we want. As much as setting goals for ourselves is healthy and worthwhile, we tend to get caught up and forget what really matters, which is all the little things around us each and every day.
I am a strong believer that GRATITUDE IS THE KEY TO HAPPINESS! One of my favorite books of all times is called THE BOOK OF AWESOME by Neil Pasricha. His book is a recording and reflection of all the little things in life that are awesome and that we take for granted each and every day. His book has truly been an inspiration for me. I now try to take time each and everyday to enjoy the little things and be thankful for them. This has improved my quality of life greatly. It is a easy way to feel instantly happy, peaceful and at times a little nostalgic.
I encourage those that are interested in learning more about practicing gratitude and how to incorporate it in your daily life. I will certainly be writing more about it in my future posts. I will also try to add daily something that I am grateful for or a simple thing I enjoyed that day that made me happy in hopes of inspiring those around me and make you smile.

I have been obsessed with this project since it began. Its focus on the small things that make life great is a message to which everyone can relate.
This post, however, is certainly one of the more serious in tone, but is incredibly well-written and very inspiring. I'm seriously considering printing it and hanging it on my wall.
We've all gotten through something we never thought we could. We've all been weary as we look back in the direction from which we came.
It is those experiences that shape us and guide our future actions. They force us to feel deeper, reach farther, try harder; push ourselves to limits we never thought we could reach and those experiences, those sometimes seemingly-unconquerable mountains, are life in its purest form.
