1000 SUBSCRIBERS! Blog Wk 28
On March 20, 2020 I hit a special milestone on my YouTube channel. I GOT 1000 SUBSCRIBERS! So in honor of that I am going to tell you a summary of the history of my channel.
It all began on Saturday February 10, 2018 when I uploaded my very first YouTube video. Although I cringe almost EVERYTIME I watch this video, it is what started it all.
I continued to make random videos for a couple months. I didn't know what I was doing, and although some videos were really fun to make like the "classic" blindfolded makeup challenge with my mom video, and the guess the cartoon theme song challenge video with my brother. I started making videos that I didn't enjoy making, and my channel was not really growing or getting views. So on April 10, 2018 I decided to quit YouTube.
A year had past by and with some motivation from friends, subscribers (now known as PrimeTimers and The PrimeTimeFamily) and YouTube videos, I decided to try it again but this time I will learn how to improve and get better. I watched many videos learning stuff like picking a niche, and the importance of title, thumbnails, tags, and descriptions. I learned how to be more confident on camera and make better videos. At this time I had a friend named Justin who helped edit my videos. After finally actually recording and having Justin edit my video, on March 31, 2019 I uploaded the video Recreating NBA Highlights. This video is possibly the second most important video for me on my channel. The video did so well and the comments were so positive that it completely motivated me to continue making videos.
On May, 2019 I reached 100 Subscribers! I told my family, told my friends, and posted it all over social media. Everybody was so supportive and and all my friends were congratulating me on getting 100 subscribers. That definitely gave me an extra boost of motivation to continue learning and making videos. On May 31, 2019 I uploaded my 100 Subscriber Special QnA.
Around my Birthday Time on June 2019 Justin who was my editor told me that he wasn't going to edit my videos anymore. I slightly panicked in my mind wondering "what am I supposed to do. I don't have a computer to edit videos on and I don't know anybody else that could edit for me." That week I learned that I can actually edit videos on my phone by using the app KineMaster. I still didn't know how to edit, but thats why I watched videos and practiced editing any video I could edit, whether it's a small one for Instagram or something that never be uploaded, I just wanted to figure this out. Little did I know at the time that Justin leaving was probably the best thing that could happen for my channel. This helped me learn how to edit and this made it so every video is exactly how I wanted it, and each video had my personality in the editing style. The first video that I uploaded that I completely edited myself on my phone was the Can You Guess the Finals MVP By Year? NBA Basketball Quiz! This video although it wasn't the best video stat wise or editing wise, I was and still am super proud of it because I completely edited it all by myself.
As time went on I realized that I didn't want to make IRL basketball videos anymore and that they weren't doing that well so I decided to switch to gaming. On August 29, 2019 I officially switched to a nba2k gaming channel after uploading My Last NBA 2k19 Montage. Shout-out to Big Bobby Blue who is my 2k player.
On October, 2019 I reached 500 Subscribers and was happy again to reach another milestone/goal of mine. In the same month on October 29, 2019 I uploaded the How To Max Defensive Badges Fast In NBA 2k20 video. Which is now my first video to get 1000 views, that is so amazing!
A month past by and I realized that I don't want to make 2k videos anymore. Instead I wanted to make videos on what I always dreamed of making which is Call of Duty videos. It was a risky decision because I was afraid of losing all of my viewers because I changed games, but I knew that call of duty is what I wanted to do. That is why on Nov 9, 2019 I took the risk and uploaded my First Time Playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare video.
This move definitely hurt my channel at first and I started getting less views on my videos. I didn't let that bother me though because this what I wanted to do. I continued learning and watching videos to figure out how can I get more people to watch my videos. As time went on slowly but surely I started getting more and more views on my videos and more subscribers. After a lot of hard work, learning, consistency, and patience on March 20, 2020 I reached my goal of 1000 Subscribers. I am going to be uploading my 1000 Subscriber Special video on March 31, 2020 which is my 1 year Anniversary from coming back to YouTube. It's insane to me how exactly 1 year from the Recreating NBA Highlights video I would be uploading my 1000 Subscriber Special video. I am so grateful to every single person who is apart of the PrimeTimeFamily and has supported me throughout my Journey so far. If it wasn't for you guys I wouldn't be where I am today so thank you. I will continue making videos for everybody that supports me. My main goal for making these videos is to try and make as many people as I can feel happy and spread positivity. Whenever I get messages from people that tell me that my videos made their day feel better after having a bad day, it truly brings a smile to my face to know that I was able to make someone else happy by watching my videos or livestreams. Like I said before thank you. Never forget that with Hard Work, Consistency, Believing in Yourself, and Patience you can achieve anything you want in Life. As I always say in my outro, "Always Remember to Work Hard✊🏼, Stay Curious🤔, and Never Grow Up👋🏼"

How to Get 1000 Subscribers on YouTube Fast in 2026 – The Complete YouTube Growth Blueprint
I went from 0 to 1,000 subscribers in 47 days with zero budget and no fancy equipment. Here's every single thing I did — and what I'd do differently if I started over today.
I'm going to be straight with you about something that took me a long time to admit: my first YouTube channel was a disaster. I uploaded 11 videos over three months. Total subscribers: 23. Most of them were my friends, and two of them I'm pretty sure were my own accounts I'd forgotten about.
The second channel was different. Not because I suddenly became more talented, or bought expensive equipment, or figured out some secret hack. It was different because I finally understood what YouTube's algorithm actually cares about — and it's almost the opposite of what most "grow your channel" guides tell you.
Channel two hit 1,000 subscribers in 47 days. Channel three hit it in 31 days. The same strategy, refined. This guide is that strategy — written out in full, with nothing held back, because I genuinely believe 1,000 subscribers is achievable for anyone who's willing to do the work consistently.
Let's get into it.
Why Most Channels Never Reach 1,000 Subscribers?
The YouTube graveyard is enormous. Millions of channels with 10, 20, 50 subscribers, last upload: 2 years ago. The creator tried, got discouraged, and stopped. I've been there. You've probably been there or are afraid of ending up there.
But here's what I learned: most channels don't fail because the content is bad. They fail because of three specific, fixable problems that nobody addresses properly.
Understanding these three problems is the foundation of everything else in this guide. The tactics and strategies I'll share only work when these fundamentals are right. Get these wrong and no amount of SEO tricks or promotional hacks will save your channel.
💡 Important Reality Check: YouTube favors watch time and engagement over everything else. A channel with 10 videos that people actually finish watching will grow faster than a channel with 100 videos that everyone abandons after 30 seconds. Quality of attention beats quantity of content.
The Foundation — Channel Setup Done Right
Before you upload your first video, your channel needs to be set up in a way that immediately signals to both viewers and the YouTube algorithm what your content is about. This takes two hours to do properly and pays dividends for years.
Channel Name — Clear, Niche-SpecificYour channel name should tell people exactly what they're getting. "TechWithRahim" or "BDFreelanceGuide" communicates more than "Rahim's World." Searchability matters — but more importantly, clarity builds instant trust with new visitors.
2. Channel Description — Keywords + HumanWrite 150–200 words. Start with your most important keyword naturally in the first two sentences — YouTube uses this for search. Then write like a human: who you are, what you make, who it's for, and how often you upload. Include your upload schedule explicitly.
3. Profile Photo & Banner — Look Like You Mean ItUse Canva (free) to create a clean channel banner. Your banner should show your niche, your upload schedule ("New videos every Tuesday"), and your channel name. First impressions matter — a polished channel makes people more likely to subscribe after watching one video.
4. Channel Trailer — Your 60-Second PitchCreate a short (60–90 second) channel trailer that answers three questions: What is this channel about? Who is it for? Why should someone subscribe? This video shows to non-subscribers visiting your channel page. A good trailer alone can add hundreds of subscribers passively.
5. Custom URL — Claim It EarlyOnce you have 100 subscribers, claim your custom URL (youtube.com/@YourChannelName). It's free, it looks professional, and it makes sharing your channel dramatically easier.
