it’s almost funny, really. reuniting with someone you missed so much was supposed to be a happy event, right? filled with tears of joy and hugging and mushy words?
if that was the case, why was makoto just standing there, frozen, heart nearly bursting out of his chest?
well, he knew why, of course. he wasn’t sure how this city was making any of it possible, but there was no mistaking the spiky orange hair flaring so brightly among the other passing citizens in front of him. that was leon kuwata alright... the very first person he accused in the killing game... and the very first person he led to a gruesome fate. yes, leon killed sayaka in a moment of panic, and that was something the smaller teen would never be able forget, but he was just scared like the rest of them, right? they were all pushed into a corner, monokuma got into their heads-- if there was anyone to blame for all the senseless murder, it was the bear and his puppetmaster. still... did the baseball star feel the same way? makoto convinced everyone of his guilt, after all...
...did leon hate him for it?
trembling, makoto approached him, reaching a hand out and letting it hover just a couple inches away, too afraid to close the distance. “kuwata-kun, i-is that really you? god, please don’t be some kind of hallucination or something, i...” his voice cracked as the sentence trailed off, nerves clearly getting the best of him.
