Day 86/100 #marigold so while painting this in my @pentalic #aquajournal I recalled the same memory I always have when I see marigolds. When I was in 5th grade we lived in a duplex in Liberty, MO. I got the wild hair that I had to grow flowers from seeds. We had been studying about plants in school, so I was a little obsessed with growing them. I can't recall how I got the seeds, but I obtained a packet of marigold seeds. These were either magical seeds, or marigolds are insanely easy to grow. Sure enough, they grew and were beautiful! Day 68/100 #sundrops 69/100 #ginger & 70/100 #fiddleleaffig I set that timer again last night. I got all caught up! Here are the next 3. It's been fun to explore the challenge of speed. I think I tend to overthink things and put in a lot of details. If I had the time, most of the detailed ones of this series, would be even more detailed. But simple is beautiful too. This project has become more about completion and progress than in depth study, but I realize why that's so important for me. I've said before how I feel like it can be hard for artists to put down the tools and call it done because we see the potential there. We see what could be. . Day 14/100 #lavender I love the smell of lavender! I definitely prefer it straight from the plant though. Sometimes in fragrances it's so overpowering. We use lavender in our home to help relax. Day 13/100 #babysbreath or #gysophila Happy Easter! Today I tried to paint in the car on the way to my in-laws house for easter dinner. Needless to say, the pothole situation is real after the winter we just had and it didn't work out. I figured I'd just paint when we got there, nope! The kids wanted to see what Aunt Tanya was doing. I ended up with little hands helping make watercolor paintings with the brushes and palette I brought. It was a lovely time. Day 11/100 #daffodil Art is process and anyone who tells you everything they do is a masterpiece is lying to you. Sometimes we only see people's best on social media. Art takes practice and patience. Sometimes you have to try new things, and fail, to grow. When I painted my daffodil I was unhappy with it. I was trying something new, it wasn't working out. I kept trying. I finally resulted in something I felt ok with in the end. Will I come back to the daffodil and try again? Absolutely. Day 9/100 #hensandchicks #succulents True story, I kill all plants. I have tried so so hard to grow a garden and to keep house plants. I've tried all kinds promising they were easy to care for. Ultimately they all die a sad sad death. I currently have a planter of hens and chicks ready to be buried right now. #ripplants .....
