Worked some higher level pivots, about turns, and heel to fronts (not front to heels). More of a Rally Novice practice than TEAM but oh well.
Notes: The dog down the hall is becoming more sensitive to specific sounds, namely the clicker and the jingle of dog tags (not keys though just tags). Before we could train in front of our door without setting her off but today we’ve had to go down the hall to the other end and she would still bark if she thought she heard it. Not sure what to do with this information. I could work bubs in front of the dog’s door for proofing but I’m not sure if that would be considered cruel.
Observations: Everything was perfect today. I rewarded for all instances of correct behavior. Had noticed that the dog had begun to lag during some points of heeling so I was clicking and throwing the reward forward when applicable. This led to some confusion when she began to forge and I clicked and wanted to reward from my hand but she made a correct assumption that I was going to throw it so she blasted forward. The problem was easily fixed by using her pre-trained reinforcement cue “Hand”. Everything is going very nicely and I will be ready to trial once I get a new job and settle.
On my end I have to work on my precison footwork because I have decided to do my RN more like a CD than just a loose-leash walk. It’s more fun that way😁
