Bandai Namco Ships 100th Million Tamagotchi
The last we heard there were 98.1 million cumulative shipments of Tamagotchi as of March 2025. With just 2 million units to go for Bandai Namco to hit 100 million worldwide, they’re preparing something special! Bandai Namco has put together a video featuring Mametchi helping to celebrate the creation of the 100th million Tamagotchi!
Mametchi headed over to a factory in China where Tamagotchi units are made, he even wore a cute little factory hat. He watched Tamagotchi being made, specifically Tamagotchi Original in Avocado Mix shell which just part of the summer 2025 lineup. A factory employee held up the 100th million Tamagotchi and Mametchi put a special sticker on it to indicate the milestone.
Bandai Namco has also provided some additional information including where the 100th million units have been distributed to. Japan leads with 49%, which make sense as it is the core market where the product has been evergreen since 1996. The Americas are not far behind at 33%.
Bandai Namco states that the re-release of the Tamagotchi Original, released in 2018, has greatly helped reach 100 million units. There have been over 11.51 Tamagotchi Original re-releases sold as of July, 2025.
