In 2013 I dressed up as a Native American Indian Girl for Halloween. I was 21 and ignorant and I didn’t understand until many years later that this was a blatant act of cultural appropriation.

I also did not understand that saying the n word if you are not black was bad across the board even when reciting song lyrics. This is going to sound stupid but I did not truly comprehend this this until sometime in my 20s. Me and my ex fiancé would say the word when singing songs and I just feel so ashamed that I ever did that, regardless whether it took place between closed doors or not.

I wish I could change time and change things but of course, I can’t. All I can do is acknowledge these situations, learn from them and keep my vow to never do anything like that again.

I went down the rabbit hole of my old posts and realized that I never finished my 100 truths, so what better way to come back than to finish them? I’m definitely going to try and fill those in with some of the truths and revelations I’ve experienced during time away from my blog.
