6:11, and it smells like sweet pine. That scent straight from a forest, harsh and unadulterated, so real. It’s humid, of course, because the rain had just fell. Bugs sing their song and the sun dances across the clouds, and the temperature rises as the sound of traffic falls. The pond here is still, just a breeze every two minutes making a tiny wake. Anyone could perfect skipping rocks on a day like this, no doubt. But there’s no flat stones, so all that’s available is sitting.
