Given how quickly the virus has spread, all we can do to keep us and others safe is to stay at home. Having stayed at home for a few days definitely made me realized how it can be both a blessing and a curse. I love staying in, having my own personal space and flexible working schedule but it can sometimes be boring too, so I came up with 10 ways you can spend your time at home!
1. Cook more often
Since we have so much more time at home, cooking is a great way to spend your time. You could do meal prep in advance and try out new recipes. If you are looking for some recipes to cook, check out my recent cooking posts! (Tteokbokki three ways, Sesame Cookies)
2. Exercise
While it is hard to stay motivated to exercise indoors, I find it helpful following online videos. Blogilates has a wide range of exercise videos and she also has a monthly workout calendar, so I simply follow the calendar to get a well-balanced workout routine. Chris Hemsworth’s workout platform, Centr, is also offering a 6-weeks free trial, so you can have free access to how he trains on a daily basis!
3. Pamper yourself
Go paint your nails or do a face mask with the free time you have. It feels nice to pamper yourself once in a while, even if it’s just for 10 minutes. I think it does not only replenishes your skin, it also helps relieve any stress you may have. I like how when I’m focusing on painting my nails, I will momentarily forget about the day-to-day stuff I have to deal with.
4. Tidy up
Every thought to yourself you will tidy up your closet/ bedroom/ living space when you have time? Now is the time! Tidy up a small part of your house everyday and in no time you will have a tidy home!
5. Plan ahead
While working at home is flexible, there is a lot of distraction as well. I find it useful to plan ahead what to do for the day/ week in the morning so I can mentally prepare how to structure my day.
6. Grow some plants
Plants are great for many reasons. They can lighten up the atmosphere, act as great decor and protect your eyes! You now have no excuse to not water your plant since you are home every day. Most of the indoor plants does not require much effort anyways so find a plant you like and take good care of it!
7. Coloring book
Coloring book was such a big thing a few years back as a way to de-stress. I got one too but it has been sitting on my shelf for the past few months, so I’m bringing it back! It’s nice to do some creative activity aside from my day-to-day work, as a way to refresh my mind.
8. Pick up a new language
I started learning Korean due to my love for Korean TV shows. I’m on this site called Memrise, which I really enjoy as it breaks down the language very clearly for beginners like me, that’s why it was also featured in my February favorites! I also started practicing French as it has been a long time since I learnt it. I find different languages very intriguing, hence I enjoy learning new one when I have the time.
9. Read/listen to a book
I’m on of those people who will start a book but rarely finish it. I simply get distracted while I’m halfway through and will move onto other things quickly. Given I have more time at home, I have no excuse to not finish a book, so I am determined to finish at least two books during this time. If you don’t like reading, I find audio books good as well, especially when I’m resting or preparing to go to sleep. If you need some inspiration, I have been enjoying the list by Elle.
10. Pick up a new hobby
Have you ever had the thought of wishing you learnt how to play the guitar or how to knit when you were younger? While not all hobbies can be done indoors, there are quite a few indoor ones to keep you busy. This is a great time to discover a new hobby and practice it!
So here are 10 things that you can easily do when you’re indoors. Stay safe everyone!
