Young people aren’t taking the coronavirus seriously because young people often subconsciously (or consciously) think they are invincible. They often don’t believe there is a serious threat unless it’s actually happening to them specifically and by then it’s already too late. The thing is, the news and people in general are trying to change that thought and are trying to warn them that they aren’t invincible, but I don’t think that will work. We can’t change an entire mindset over one virus and a few weeks. But I have an idea.

I think we need to market this isolation differently.

We should switch tactics; you aren’t doing it to protect yourself or your family anymore. Clearly, that’s not enough. But I know what is.

There is a significant increase in the risk coronavirus poses beginning at age 50, with further increase in risk as age increases. Also, thus far, men appear slightly more susceptible than women. So we should find someone in that category, a guy over 50, who everyone loves, and make them the symbol which we are striving to protect.

Rebrand this. You aren’t isolating to save yourself.
