Thank you to @marie-curie for nominating me! Right then, let’s get started! Oh, and Happy New Year’s Eve haha
1. How many books have you read in 2018?
29. I kept a diary of what I read. It’s a pathetic total but it’s more than I’ve read in a year before AND I’ve been super busy so I’m quite proud of that :)
2. What is your favourite book character?
Werner Pfennig from All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. He’s such a bright spark. I freaking love this book. It’s like the only fiction book I’ve read in English in two years!
3. Current favourite TV show?
I don’t watch TV as a rule but actually I’m quite into Grey’s Anatomy and Doctor Who.
4. Have you made any New Year’s resolutions?
To read more *English-language* fiction! And also to start learning to code. I’ve wanted to for a while
5. What are your favourite songs from 2018?
Brace yourselves, this answer is quite long. My most recent has to be Scared of the Dark from the new Spider-Man soundtrack (yes. Yes I did go there haha). But then we have:
High Hopes by P!ATD
On Fire by Loïc Nottet (please give him some love omg his voice!)
Almost all of Maître Gims 2018 album Ceinture noire. La Même is THE best thing on it though.
Max Giesinger’s album Die Reise. All of it.
Hier mit dir by Wincent Weiss
6) Last book that you basically inhaled/ read in one go?
I am literally incapable of reading anything in one go or quickly. It takes me days to get through a couple of pages nowadays haha but I guess the fastest I’ve read was L’invitée. And we all know how long I was reading that xD
7. Do you listen to music while reading?
No. I have got to have absolute silence or I can’t focus on the words haha
8. Favourite OTP?
I don’t have one :)
9. Countries you want to visit
Oh my God there are so many! But I guess my top 8 would be (in alphabetical order):
Australia
Austria
Belgium
Canada
The Czech Republic
Luxembourg
New Zealand
Norway
10. What is the coolest fantastic creature and why?
The hippogriff! I love eagles and I love horses and the hippogriff is a very handsome, very powerful mix of both.
11. Fond memory from 2018?
I have had a blast this year, and I am a completely different person now to how I started the year. I’ve grown up a lot from having to travel solo and made some fantastic friends. I’ve really gone out and made memories for the first time in my life. I reckon among the highlights are my time at the summer school at Cambridge University and going to London with just my friend from school. We were sat in Five Guys not having a care in the world. And we went shopping and I let my friend dress me haha
I can’t neglect my best friends of course - the sleepover I had with them a couple of months back was so much fun!
And I guess all the times I have laughed. Including my friend’s birthday, where I tried VR for the first time.
So those were my 11 questions. I hope I haven’t bored you too much. I’m now going to nominate:
Sorry if you’ve already done this! You guys are going to answer the following:
What was your favourite film this year?
What are you looking forward to in 2019?
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
You are given the chance to master anything you wish in 2019. (This could be a language, a school subject or a hobby like ballet or playing an instrument, or literally anything you like.) What do you pick?
If you could change one thing about 2018, what would it be?
What were you most proud about in 2018?
Have you made any New Year’s resolutions?
You can take three books and three songs from this year into next year. Which do you choose?
What is your favourite memory of this year?
Which countries would you like to visit?
Not all of 2018 has been bad news. What happened that made you smile?
I was tagged by @plantlab (thank you so much for the tag!). This looks pretty fun so I hope you enjoy it too!
Rules: answer these 11 questions, make up some more and tag 11 people.
1. What’s your favorite book? That’s a super tough question but I think it has to be ‘The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet’ by Becky Chambers because it is honestly just so amazing and the characters are just brilliant. It’s a really interesting look at the less action-packed and glamorous side of science fiction which follows the crew of a ship through a job they’ve taken on. I won’t say anything else except for you absolutely have to read it.
2. Favorite place to study? That would have to be in the library at university in the quiet study area where there’s still some noise with people quietly studying together but it’s still quiet enough to really focus. Plus it feels like somewhere to be working which helps motivate me to study more.
3. What are you most proud of right now? Honestly? The work that I’ve put in revising for my exams at the moment, I’ve never worked quite this hard so consistently at something before. I guess that just shows how much of a difference enjoying the subject you study can make.
4. If you could go anywhere, where would you go? Anywhere my friends are going to be.
5. Early mornings or late nights? Late nights all the way! But I really have to get better at handling the early mornings which is why I made my resolution of getting up earlier.
6. Happiest memory? Nothing specific but probably the middle of Year 11 because everything was so trivial and it all just felt okay for a few months.
7. Do you have any pets? What are their names? Sadly not, I did have a goldfish years ago who was called Bob, he lived for like 10 years which was pretty damn good for a tiny little goldfish.
8. What is your clothing style? Casual I guess? I have no idea, I like button up shirts with a t-shirt underneath with jeans but that’s as much thought as I put into it if I’m being honest.
9. Where is your happy place? My bedroom, it’s a place I can relax and be away from the world and it’s somewhere I know well so I can feel properly at ease there.
10. What’s the last thing you bought? A Might Car Mods book which is a coffee table book containing illustrations, photos, and information about all the cars they’ve worked on. (Mighty Car Mods is an Australian YouTube channel based around two guys working on cars and having fun and just not taking things too seriously; if cars are your thing or even just interest you I recommend giving some of their stuff a watch)
11. What is the strangest thing you did as a (I assume this was meant to say child)? Not really strange but I just fell off things and climbed over stuff I wasn’t supposed to a lot, even as a baby. Fortunately its a habit I’ve grown out of but I do still fall over quite a bit so perhaps it’s not entirely gone.
My questions:
1. What’s your dream job?
2. When was the last time you saw your friends?
3. What accomplishment are you most proud of in your life?
4. Do you make new years resolutions?
5. Who is your favourite artist or author?
6. How happy are you about where you are in life right now?
7. Introvert or extrovert (or the mythical ambivert)?
8. Favourite item of clothing?
9. Where is your dream holiday destination?
10. Do you like Star Wars?
11. How much time do you spend on your phone during a typical day?
So I was tagged by @tonydadisbestdad, whom I feel so rather honored to be tagged by considering I don’t really interact with them or others especially since all I basically do is reblog lmao. But seriously, thank you!
Answers:
1. What animal best represents your personality?
I know this isn’t that deep but I spent like 5 minutes thinking about this lol. I guess it would be either a sea turtle or a deer
2. What’s your favorite sounding word?
For some reason, I’ve always liked the word Miraculously
3. What would you stockpile if you found out it wasn’t going to be made anymore?
Tsum tsums (don’t judge me)
4. Have you ever met any celebrities and if so who?
Does high-fiving a kpop group count? If so, Vixx!
5. Are you a person that hasn’t seen snow in person before?
Nope! Born in New York then went back to visit during a winter :)
6. If you were invisible for a day what would you do?
Being honest, I would either sneak food or sneak into movies
7. If you have any pets and you decide to answer this can I see a picture of them?
Don’t have pets but if I did, yes!
8. Where is your favorite place you’ve ever been?
New York! idk, it’s always been a place that’s the complete opposite of me yet I love it
9. What’s something you really like but can’t do and want to become better at?
Dance lol, fx makeup, write (i used to write fanfics but i realized i sucked)
10. What book has had the greatest impact on your life?
Both Harry Potter and Percy Jackson but more so PJO. I read it first and was my first fandom I was aware of. Introduced me to one of my favorite groups of kids, my first biggest otp, first fanfics (welp), edits, book community, a closer friendship with my middle school english teacher etc
11. What song always makes you cry?
/i have a list, yes, and yes, some of these are weird/
I’ll Stand By You (particularly the glee versions)
When She Loved Me (from toy story 2)
Second Star To The Right (peter pan)
Leaving Hogwarts (hp and the sorcerers stone)
Victory Celebration (star wars:rotj)
I’m With You (SHINee)
My Questions:
What’s your favorite animated film?
At the top of your head, who are some of your favorite characters?
Crucial! Cookies or chips?
Who are your celebrity crushes?
What is the oldest piece of tech you own?
What’s a fantasy world you would like you live in and why?
Which is your ideal season?
Do you have a collection of anything?
What ethnicity are you?
What are some things that make you happy? (broad, i know ^^)
Can we be friends? :)

I got tagged in another one of these by @kraken-spines - these are so much fun, thanks!
1. What genre/type of book do you typically avoid? What would change your mind about it?
So I like romance in the stories that I read, but I don’t really read any romance books - I’m not interested in heterosexual romance, and any LGBTQIA+ romance I’ve tried to read has always just been really cringy soft core porn or just dull. If someone was to recommend queer romance books to me (especially queer lady romance) I would 100% read it.
2. How often do you use public libraries?
When I lived at home and had access to one, I used it pretty much all the time. But then I moved away and didn’t have access to a library. So right now I don’t use them at all (which sucks!)
3. Would you rather read a completed series or one that’s currently ongoing?
The thing is I’m torn with this one: currently I’m waiting for the third Kingkiller Chronicle book, and I started the Darker Shade of Magic series before it was finished. However, I’m refusing to start the Song of Fire and Ice series until it’s finished. So it depends on the author I guess.
4. Pretend you were starting a Little Free Library (or something similar) and you have duplicates of all the books you own, which four books would you choose for your community?
The 13 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear by Walter Moers
A Girl Is A Half-Formed Thing by Eimear McBride
American Gods by Neil Gaiman
Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke
5. What book would you recommend to one of your favorite authors?
I’d recommend Walter Moers books to Neil Gaiman - they’re really fun and weird and wacky, I think he’d like them.
6. If you had to write an essay about any book, which would you choose and why?
This is such a tough question, plus literary analysis of books was my weak point in english. I think there’s a lot of stuff to be explored in the Harry Potter books, and I think it would be interesting to look at common themes through Stephen King’s books. I also adore the character development throughout the Darker Shade of Magic series, and I’ve just finished The Count of Monte Cristo and I think the journey of the characters and how they intertwine is really cool.
7. What is/was your parent or guardian’s favorite book? Have you read it? Do you like it too?
My mam is really into crime and mysteries - I remember her reading a lot of Patricia Cornwall when I was growing up, and enjoyed reading them as well.
8. If you’re bored and have a pen in hand do you write, doodle, or something else?
A bit of both.
9. Do you prefer slow or fast paced books?
I like books with fast-paced action, lots going on, but with slow build-up in character development and relationships - I hate feeling like I’ve been cheated out of proper relationship building.
10. If two of your favorite authors were forced to co-write a book or series what would it look like?
My first thought was that it already exists and it’s called Good Omens, but then I realised that that’s probably cheating a little.
I recently saw an interview between George RR Martin and Stephen King and I think the two of them would write and EPIC horror fantasy together - I would pay good money to read that. I think it would be quite interesting to see how they work together given that they lie on completely opposite ends of the writing speed spectrum.
11. What if you were given the opportunity to rewrite a book (that you liked or didn’t like) and ‘fix it’ how would your version differ from the original? And what book would you choose to fix up?
I would 100% choose twilight - I’ve thought a lot about how different and interesting it would be if Bella had a backbone.
- she would definitely be calling Edward out on his creepy behaviour and I think that she wouldn’t have a huge amount to do with him at first, but I think eventually through Alice and Jasper, they’d become friends. Instead she’d end up hanging out with Jacob at first, maybe they’d date, maybe they wouldn’t, they’d definitely end up being BFFs UNTIL, the whole shapeshifting into wolves thing starts. The leader would blame Bella because she’s friends with vampires, and would essentially shut her out of the pack and community. Bella would be FURIOUS and heartbroken, but fuck it, she has other friends, and so ends up hanging out with her human and vampire friends. Her and Edward end up getting close and maybe dating. The events of the fourth book do NOT happen, and personally I would have a Bella/Edward/Jacob polyamorous relationship.OR, those two idiots would piss Bella off and she’d end up hooking up with Alice and Jasper.
My Questions:
1. If you could co-author a book with any author, living or dead, who would you choose?
2. If you could get any picture/quote/whatever from a book tattooed on you, what would you get?
3. If you could bring any extinct animal back to life what would you chose?
4. Dark, milk, or white chocolate?
5. If you could visit any place on earth where would you choose?
6. What’s your all-time favourite book from childhood?
7. What song would you choose as your theme song?
8. Would you rather always be early when everyone else is later, or always late when everyone else is early?
9. If you could enter the world of any painting, which one would you choose?
10. What’s your favourite soup flavour?
11. When writing - pantser, planner, or plantser?
I’m tagging @writerlydays, @scripturient-manipulator, and @thewritehag
I was tagged by the amazing @ramune-and-rain! Thank you so much you are literally the best :)
1. Would you rather explore the many planets in the universe or explore the wonderous depths of our oceans?
hmmm I would have to say the wonderous depths of our ocean. I don't know what it is about it but the ocean has always fascinated me. I would love love love to explore the ocean and find new sea creatures and stuff people have no idea about yet!
2. Can you explain your favorite color with out saying what it is and it’s shade?
hmmmm lets see if I can do this. my favorite color is the beautiful color of my favorite alcoholic beverage. it gives me that nice classy feeling even though I know I'm not ( and I actually secretly really hate the taste of alcohol ) I drink it anyways. My Favorite color Reminds me of the smell roses give off when I'm around them. To be completely honest I think I did terrible but if you guess good for you!
3. Your bais texts you, mistaking your number for one of their friend’s. Do you talk to them and keep up an act or do you admit to the mistake? How do you do it? What happens after?
I would honest let them know that they have the wrong number. I would tell them I appreciate them and hope they are taking care themselves. That I hope they have a good day and find their friends number. They would most likely never talk to me again but I would honestly be absolutely okay with that :)
4. Describe your favorite feature of one of your friends without saying what it is?
AHHH IM SO BAD AT THIS! okay okay here goes nothing. My favorite feature on my best friend would have to be the lovely brown curls that just seem to always lay flawlessly off her head. like honestly she slays all day everyday.
5. What super power would you have and how would you use it? Would you choose the path of hero or villain?
hmmm I would want the power to teleport. I don't really know whay I've just always loved the idea of teleporting were I want when I want to.I would honestly probably use for the stupidest things ever. like I woke up late so I would teleport to my lecture or something stupid like that lol. I would love to say I would be a hero but to be completely honest I would be that person in the middle who doesn't really care. like yeah I would help people when its life or death but like it would just out weigh all the stupid selfish things I did for myself that day........I know I'm terrible.
6. What are 3 things included in your ideal type? Why? Would you accept someone with out these features?
1 - I like people who have a really nice personality. Idk what its but if you have a nice personality it makes me feel comfortable and happy. sorry but this is the one thing I'm very big one. I cant introduce a guy with a bad personality to my family. so no this is a definite must.
2 - I like someone who is funny and can make me laugh. its really not that hard but I like it :). Again it just makes me feel comfortable around you and not so bored. I mean if your not funny that's fine though. so with this one no I'm not to big on it
3 - I’m very big one a guy who has a nice style but can still be comfy at home. idk what it is but I love when my s/o dress up to go out. it makes me feel like he I very well put together and I love it. I don't really know how important this is to me but I have never been attracted to a guy who is always in lazy clothing.
7. Vampires, werewolves or witch's? if you could become one, which would you choose and why?
hmmmmm I’ve never really been into that stuff but if I had to choose I would say vampire because I could live forever and see how society changes in the future. I don't want to burn in sunlight though.........or sparkle.
8. If you released a mini album with 4 songs one it, what would the titles be?
hmmm dear mom, when i was young, grown up, and here we are.
deae mom would ( clearly ) be a letter to my mom and how grateful I am for her.
when I was young would be about all my struggles growing up.
grown up would be about trying to find a place in the world.
here we are would be song about the place me my sister and my brother are at currently and how difficult it was to get there and how grateful I am to both of them.
9. Describe what you are feeling right now by using a metaphor without including the word to describe how you are feeling?
oh okay. heres one I really love that I describes how I currently feel really well.
“After great pain,a formal feeling comes--”
10. Your bais from one group confesses to you in front of your bais from another group. who do you choose? They can not be your ult bais.
if I had to choose between hmmmm lets say moonbin and wonwoo I would pick moonbin because he is the same age as me. awe I feel so bad,
11. Finally your bais promises to go on a date with you on the condition that you plan it. plan the entire night.
This sounds really boring but honestly I would probably plan a movie night at my place. idk I'm a simple girl I like movies, candy, and popcorn. I love at home dates and have conversations with people.
here are my questions
1. If you could travel anywhere where would you go?
2. If you could only keep 5 possessions what would you keep?
3. who are your top 5 bais’?
4. what is a relation ship deal breaker for you?
5. Your bais sees you in the crowd and calls you backstage to talk with you, do you go or leave without seeing what they wanted?

8. top 5 favorite foods?

11. If you could become a kpop idol or a celebrity in general, would you? why?
This was a lot of fun! hopefully the people I tag enjoy it as well. of course you don't have to answer if you don't want to :)
thanks @yeol2bean for tagging me; I love your blog
Rules:
1) post the rules
2) answer the questions given to you by the tagger
3) write 11 questions of your own
4) tag 11 people
1. what has changed in your life since kpop?
I shamelessly imagine myself with beautiful Korean men who are way older than me, out of my league nor recognise me for the beautiful, lazy and sarcastic prick that I am. That and I now have better music to listen to
2. who’s concert do you really wanna attend?
Ah, I hear EXO’s concerts are lit but I can’t do my babies Monsta X dirty like that (I actually hate loud places so chances of me ever going to one are next to zero)
3. which is the group you never thought you’d stan but you’re stanning now?
Tbh, I’m really getting into BTS & it doesn’t help that their comeback sounds so pleasing to me. With no shame I can admit that Jimin’s Serendipity has been on repeat for two days now; whoops
4. gateway kpop song?
My life as an English Lit student is failing me because I have no idea what this means lmao. God knows how I hacked that C in my exam
5. Pick your tsundere man: GOT7′s JB or BAP’s Yongguk?
GOT7′s JB, mainly because I haven’t checked out BAP yet but I can say that Jaebum has been wrecking me for some time now. Someone made that edit of him with the nose piercing (which really matched with mine) & I was instantly sold because it goes with his whole chic look? That makes no sense but I just really wanted to mention how good he looked with a nose piercing
6. Do you ship any two idols and think they should just date already?
I don’t ship idols but bromances really get to me, especially Jooheon & Chankgyun. Be My Friend was the cutest shit I’ve seen and it takes a lot for me to admit sappy things like that
7. why do you like/respect your bias?
Jooheon is absolutely charismatic on stage and just goes to show how much he genuinely loves what he does. The way he monitors not only his, but the other member’s performances in order to improve and show Monbebes better sides of them
8. what’s your favourite fandom?
I've talked about Monsta X long enough for you to know that Monbebes are my g’s
9. Pick an era: Joseon, Silla, Goryeo?
imma go with Joseon only because I’ve seen more dramas about it and Goryeo was just a whole mess of emotions that I chose not to finish it. I like happy endings, sue me
10. Honestly what’s the deal with your bias wrecker?
Kihyun is just...something else
11. ok but do you know how beautiful NCT’s Johnny is?
EMO KID FROM HORTON HEARS A WHO! Nah seriously though, he’s so caring and funny and optimistic (I already know you know he’s attractive because it’s a given) & is actually my bias in NCT
11 questions for you to answer:
1) what’s one thing your bias does that annoys you?
2) what would be the ultimate k-pop collab?
3) if you ever saw your bias, how would you get their attention?
4) who is the evillest maknae?
5) are you a ‘theory’ stan, ‘get stressed while reading theories’ stan or simply ‘just here to enjoy the music & its video’ stan?
6) do you regret getting into k-pop?
7) if you watch k-dramas, which one would you want to re-enact with your bias?
8) which groups do you want to interact with one another?
9) favourite hairstyle on your bias?
10) what songs would you recommend to your ult group?
11) what is your battery percentage on? that will be the likelihood of you ever meeting your bias

Either way you can ignore this if you don’t wanna do it lool
Thanks so much for tagging me, love! @languageduck
Here are the answers for your questions (also sorry this is late):
1. Which do you like best, exams or assignments, and why?
I like assignments the best! I feel like I can work on and with them better, and in my own time (well, kinda). I like that I won’t be as pressured, and I will definetly feel a lot better because I won’t stress as much!
Favourite study music?
preferably Hamilton: An American Musical, but if I feel like any lyrics will stress me out or distract me, I go with the SOUNDTRACK FOR STUDY playlist over at Spotify. I know this is kinda cliche or whatever, but I really like the instrumental, calm music. Also I listen to it if I need something soft in the backround whenever I’m reading!
Number one goal at the moment
Hm.. I would say get an A in Religion class, and in Social Science, but my mental and physical health is wayy more important at the moment. And if y'all wondering what I’m struggeling with it’s and eating disorder and severe anxiety. So my goal rn, I would say, is to get better and as healthy as I can!
Do you have any pets? (tell me about them!)
I DO!! I have a dog, a white Golden Retriever, named Draco. I absolutely LOVE him!! He’s 6 y/o and we got almost a year ago, as we saved him from being put down. He is the best! So fluffy! HE EVEN GOT CURLY FUR!
A country you’d love to visit one day
Hm, not sure about this. But I’d have to say France! I don’t speak French one bit, but I’m sure I’d manage. Also, I do have friends (and a boyfriend) who do speak the beautiful language, so if I bring them, I’ll be fine!
A year of your life you wish you could go back to
well… My life is something I’d rather not choose to re-live, but if I could go back to the start of this year, I would. I would fix some mistakes and get some very toxic people out of my life sooner (and try to make that B in A in that one class).
If/when you have kids, would you push them to finish high school?
I don’t want kids, but I would NEVER push them to finish - instead, I would support them along the way, and rather have them really want to finish so they can get a further education!
What school-related thing gives you the most anxiety?
Well, as I suffer from severe anxiety, everything makes me anxious. But that said, presentaions and other speaking-aloud-related things…
What’s one thing you think everyone should read/listen to/watch?
I don’t have a thing like that because I’d rather have people listen/read/watch it on their own will, instead of “forcing” them to do it and stripping them of a basic human right for a sec.
Favourite fictional character at the moment
NICO DE ANGELO OR TALLY YOUNGBLOOD, I CAN’T CHOOSE AAHHHH
Favourite emoji at the moment / of all time
the black heart because it’s dark and gloomy as well as loving, just as I am, I have heard!
My questions are:
1. Fave season of the year?
2. Would you ever take a PhD(in a subjet you love) just to prove someone wrong?
3. Fave hot drink to drink in the winter when studying?
4. Fave subject to study?
5. Do you like to listen to music when you study? If yes, what genre/kind?
6. Is there anyone in your family that you idolize?
7. Are you the person to do your assingments and tasks 3 days before, or procrastianate 3 days and do everything at 1 am?
8. Do you snack when you study? if yes, what’s your fave thing to snack on?
9. Do you prefer rainy or sunny days?
10. Coffee or tea? Or none?
11. Would you pursue your dream career if you had the means and money to do so, even if it meant spending the rest of your life going to school?
I tag @vanandlife @createnotes @thewritersblock707 @thestudyfox @ingenorsk @studyruels @latinlangblr and @sumastudies as well as @soaked-in-starlight !!!
Damn, it seems that this is what happens when you run out of phone data and are away from wifi for a while. The 11 questions tags take over.
Imma gonna answer every tag that I can find in this one long post, and sweet jesus I’m not tagging anyone in this particular chain, for fear of starting some kind of infinite loop that eventually becomes sentient and takes over the world.
So, time to seriously overshare!!
From @books-are-portals
1. Favourite mythological being (of any kind)?
It’s a tie between dragons and unicorns, and you know what that means…..FIGHT!
2. Least favourite drink?
I hate coke/diet coke/pepsi/cola. I’m quite intolerant to caffeine in large doses, so the last time I drank a glass of coke, at like 4pm in the afternoon probably about 8 years ago, it kept me away until 3am D:
3. What book(s) do you recommend for everyone?
The Wicked and the Divine comics. It’s hella diverse, the art is amazing, and it’s about insanely powerful magical pop star gods. EVERYONE SHOULD READ.
4. Can you touch the tip of your nose with your tongue?
No – I have both an incredibly small nose and a very stubby tongue.
5. Least favourite book protagonist?
Ummm, bar all the protagonists from classics that I could endlessly moan on about all day and all night (I’m looking at you, Pamela), I’m going to say Zoey from The House of Night series, for all her toxic slut shaming, double standards, and just generally horribly written narrative voice (‘bullpoopy’ is a word that will forever be branded on my mind).
6. What TV show/film makes you happy?
Brooklyn Nine Nine is my go-to happy tv show, Spirited Away/Howl’s Moving Castle are the film equivalent.
7. Favourite trope?
Anything where a platonic friendship (particularly between two women) gets prioritised above a romantic relationship.
8. What piece of fictional technology would you like to have?
An alethiometer from HDM – it tells you the truth, but not enough to stop you from being in control of your own fate (the beauty of a book about free will, I guess.)
9. Finish sentence: I didn’t get enough sleep last night because…
…my back aches from lugging all my books to storage.
10. Favourite food to eat when you’re feeling down?
To be honest, it’s probably toast (with peanut butter if it’s been a really bad day).
11. Can you knit?
I can, but I can’t knit well. If you want a scarf, I can, in theory, do that. Anything that isn’t just one uniform band of the same stitch and I am not the person for the job.

From @heretherebebooks
1. Have you ever fallen out of love with a book? Why?
There are a lot of standard answers: ACOTAR, Twilight, etc. but my most recent is Borderline by Mishell Baker – I really like books with ‘unlikeable’ protagonists so I gave this a very high rating on first review, but I didn’t realise how damaging this representation of BPD is until I read multiple own voices reviews on the subject.
2. What’s the strangest book-related dream you’ve ever had?
I have a lot of book dreams which feature me as the protagonist in my favourite fantasy novels, but then when I try to use magic to defend myself my brain goes ‘but Emma, magic doesn’t exist’ and so I’m suddenly facing down a demon hoard with no powers whatsoever.
3. Have you read a book that you didn’t really appreciate until later on?
Ash by Malinda Lo is the main one for this, because I didn’t appreciate that Ash is not supposed to get with the unbelievably hot fairy prince…until I reread five years later and saw that the hot fairy prince is a dick.
4. What book would you like to see a musical adaptation of? (Bonus: any ideas for song titles?)
To be honest, I just want Starkid to do a ‘A Very Potter Musical’ version of Cursed Child and watch the fanfiction of the fanfiction.
5. Have you ever thrown a book across the room? What was it?
Ms Marvel Volume 4 (my ship was sunk…for now, anyway).
6. What book cover do you absolutely hate? How would you redesign it?
The Falconer and Dark Days Club UK covers are just super tacky – I’d take the Falconer US covers, and replace the Dark Days standard ‘pretty woman in fragile looking pose’ covers with either ‘plain looking woman fighting a fuck tonne of demons’ or just ‘fuck tonne of demons’, which is what the story is about anyway.
7. Have you ever cosplayed a character? Who?
I’m read this question at a con while dressed as Newt Scamander, so…. (last year I was Violet from the Rat Queen comics).
8. What’s the last book that made you want to scream from the rooftop?
Six Wakes by Mur Lafferty (the thing I screamed was “MURDER. IN. SPAAAACEEE!” when my housemate asked me what it was about, although I was not on a rooftop at the time.)
9. What’s your favourite subgenre?
My new favourite is ‘geeky contemporary’, bonus points if it’s ‘geek convention contemporary’ (Queens of Geek, Geekerella, Unconventional)
10. If you could bring an author back to life to write one more book, who would it be?
I think Angela Carter could write one hell of a feminist YA fairy tale retelling, so I’m gonna bring her back.
11. Mug full of tea on your bed - yay or nay?
I just….I don’t live life this dangerously xD

From @bookcub:
1. Who was the last character you related to and what were they from?
Luca from The Burning City by Amanda Foody – he was basically the reason I kept reading that book, which otherwise wasn’t really my cup of tea, despite being a perfectly good book. He was the love interest, and was explicitly demiromantic. Although I’m not entirely sure where I place on the ace spectrum, and also felt that his portrayal was a little bit too cut and dry – with no sexual attraction until the MC shows up and then all the sexual attraction immediately at once with not really any grey area – his indifferent attitude towards sex as a general concept until those feelings latch onto a specific person, and his hesitation surrounding how to handle a relationship when it’s not something he’s has to consider before that point, were both very relatable for me. It certainly fitted my experience a little better than Tash Hearts Tolstoy.
2. What’s your favorite genre of music?
Hmmm…there’s a wide range but I guess singer songwriter covers it? I care more about a song’s lyrics than what genre it’s in.
3. Which tags on tumblr do you follow and why?
*whispers* I still don’t really understand how following tags works…..(someone plz explain)
4. Do you have any book related jewelry?
I have a necklace of an owl delivering a Hogwarts letter, and Howl’s earrings from the Ghibli movie.
5. Thoughts on booklr being dead?
I think the parts of booklr that were active a few years ago might be dead, but that’s just one specific group of people and they’ve probably moved on for a reason. Given it’s only in the last year or so that I’m getting notes and making friends, if booklr truly is dead then it seems that I’m either a necromancer, or having one hell of a party in the graveyard.
6. What are some of your favorite picture books from when you were a kid?
We’re Going On a Bear Hunt is the classic (my parents used to sing it to me to get me to go on hikes). When I could read for myself, Varjak Paw.
7. What’s the first book you remember reading or being read to you?
My dad read me the first and half of the second Harry Potter books on the Eurostar train from London to Disneyland Paris.
8. What’s your favorite dystopian novel and why?
Hmmm, I’m not really a fan of dystopias all that much (more of a fantasy person), but I really like the Wolf by Wolf series, which I think counts due to it being alt. history, and The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood. The first because a) it has fantasy elements, and b) A* character development over the duology. The second because it was the first ‘literary’ book I read for school and enjoyed, and because the TV show has been one of my favourite things this year.
9. Where do you get/buy most of your books?
Truthfully, Amazon. I’m trying to do better now that I’m no longer strapped for cash.
10. Favorite animal?
Cats. Fluffy, smooshy faced cats in particular ^^.
11. What book release are you anxious for (one you know the release date for) (yeah that means not Doors or Stone)
It’s a toss-up between The Stone Sky by NK. Jemisin (which is out like, next week!!), Provenance by Ann Leckie, and Warcross by Marie Lu.

From @accidentalspaceexplorer:
1. What do you think of science fiction?
I think it is good when written well, where the focus on world building doesn’t leave the characters one dimensional. Unfortunately I also think it is coded masculine in a number of ways - the focus on a ‘logical, technological’ world rather than ‘illogical’ femme coded magic - which means that sometimes I find it quite an frustrating and alienating genre.
2. What’s one of your pet peeves?
Mansplaining. Currently there’s this really horrible man at my book club who keeps trying to explain narrative to me and I’m like, dude, I’m an English Literature graduate.
3. If you could pick one magic system to exist in real life, what would it be?
Oh, fuck. There’s so many that would be amazing, but I think the main I always gravitate back to is Elemental magic a la the Avatar universe, because that was the first type of magic system I fell in love with.
4. What is your favorite tree?
Cherry blossom
5. Do you have any plants around the house?
I do not own any personally, but my housemate has like fifteen spider plants to which I like to think I am a caring godmother figure.
6. What is the book with the weirdest premise that you’ve read and would recommend?
The Jane Austen Project - time travellers go back to Regency era Britain to befriend Austen and try to steal one of her lost manuscripts.
7. Have you loved books for as long as you can remember, or was there a particular event that sparked you becoming a reader?
As long as I can remember - I remember giving a presentation in class about how I was going to be any author at age 9.
8. What is your favorite recipe?
Lemon meringue cake - cake, lemon curd, a fuck tonne of meringue, what’s not to love?
9. Do you reread books? If not, why not? If so, what’s one that you reread again and again?
Yes. Always reread. My three main ones are The Dark Days Club, Uprooted, and (of course) Howl’s Moving Castle.
10. What’s your favorite weather?
Cold sunshine in winter.
11. Do you read every day?
Pretty much (I read on my lunch break at work).
I think that’s every outstanding question answered - sorry if I’ve missed anyone!
