Imagine Thorin realizing he needs to get rid of the Arkenstone when you get hurt because of it
*during the quest*
You: I'm not entirely convinced that the dragon sickness is a sickness at all.
Thorin: what do you mean?
You: I think it's some sort of archaic dark magic, you know like what Sauron's ring did to Isiludor.
Gandalf: actually that is a strong possibility, but we won't know until we have it. When we get it, I'll check it for such things.
*pre-botfa*
You: *much to Thorin's ire you refuse to even enter the treasury*
*post-botfa*
Thorin: (y/n), follow me, we are going to have Gandalf look at the arkenstone to see if it's full of dark magic.
You: where is it?
Thorin: in this chest I'm carrying.
*at the meeting*
Gandalf: *spends about two hours performing various tests* yes, definitely full of bad magic. I suggest you get rid of it somehow.
Thorin: I'll have to think about it, until then I'll keep it somewhere away from people. Honey, let's go back to our chambers.
You: alright, I'll put the arkenstone back in the box *touches the arkenstone only for It to send out a blast of flames*
Thorin: *pulls you away from the flames* are you alright?
You: *opens your hand to reveal a first degree burn on the palm of your hand* no it hurts.
Gandalf: *heals your hand* it doesn't seem to like (y/n).
Thorin: ... *goes over to the box and picks up the arkenstone* this needs to go, we can't have it hurting people. *throws it against the floor and it shatters against the floor and a puff of smoke escapes the shards and they stop glowing*
Dain: what did you just do!
Thorin: prevented that thing from hurting anyone else.
Dain: but the king's stone
Thorin: I don't need a cursed rock to make me a king, I am Durin's heir, my blood line is more than enough to make me king! All I need is loyalty, you can do that?
Dain: yes, I can, my king. *bows his head*
