Thursday 17th
We set off on our road trip to Drumheller, stopping for breakfast at Wendy’s. When arriving at Drumheller we dropped off our stuff at Badlands Motel, our home for the night. I was super excited to stay in a motel, as a Brit we don’t experience motels very often; so it was a whole new experience for me. Previous to our stay the only thing I can tell you about motels is what you see in films, such as ‘Psycho’ and apart from the name Badlands; it wasn’t very Bates Motel at all. After we dropped off our stuff at the motel we went to Royal Tyrrell Museum which Les would be happy to hear me say it was pretty cool, seeing all the fossils. After the dinosaur Museum we went shopping for some supplies and headed back to the motel for something to eat. Me, Les and Bean popped out and had a couple of drinks/games of pool in a bar and then headed back to the motel. When getting back me and Courtnee chilled in mine and Beans room for a bit watching pants tv such as ‘US Ex On The Beach’ and ‘Jersey Shore’.

Friday 18th
Les Coen and Thoren left early to get to a hockey match in Calgary. As for me and Bean we went to the world’s largest dinosaur with Courtney and Shamis. Then we went to see the Hoo Doos, which are naturally eroded land formations, they stand 20 feet tall and another little fact that I like about these is they’re also known as Fairy Chimneys.
Next up we visited my favourite place of the day the Star Mine Suspension Bridge, I love heights so this was right up my street. Beanie wasn’t that keen though and Courtnee made me take a photo of her near the end of the bridge to prove she didn’t cry this time walking over, which I found pretty amusing.
Next on our Drumheller tour was a drive to Wayne and in order to drive there you need to cross eleven bridges in the space of 6 kilometres (3.7 miles). Wayne was a mining town back in the 1912 with a population of 2,490 at its peak, in 1932 the coal mines started closing down and by 1957 the last mine closed; currently there is the population of 28. We had a photo taken outside the last remaining structure from Wayne’s mining day which is The Rosedeer Hotel/ Last Chance Saloon which was built-in 1913.
After leaving Wayne we ate at the Chopped Leaf which was lovely and visited Horseshoe Canyon, Bean, Courtnee and Shamis went on a little hike in the canyon and I enjoyed the view above. We then drove back to Calgary to meet up with Les and boys where we stayed in Sandman hotel for the night.
Saturday 19th
We were planning on lovely lay in but master Coen being super cute and sneaky wrote us a note and left it in our room. Asking us to come to his hockey match so we could hardly say no. On a plus side we ate A and W. After hockey we went on a road trip to Canmore to see the mountains, which was absolutely stunning. The views were amazing, hands down some of the most beautiful scenery I have even see. To think that some people are luck enough to live there is crazy. We had a look around the shops and then hand a picnic at a park. The kids had a bit of a play and then on the way back to the hotel we watched Jurassic Park 3. When we got back to hotel it was a slight mad rush to get sorted as we was leaving Courtnee and Coen in Calgary and heading back to Leduc that night as we flew to Vancouver on the Monday so had to get sorted for our flight. The drive back was fine, just a very somber mood due to us not really wanting to leave everyone so soon.
Sunday 20th
Was spent adulting, organising and packing doing laundry and in the evening we had a meal at Boston Pizza with Barry, Les, Shamis and Thoren.
