When I was a kid, about 5 years old, I envy my cousins so much because they could swim well. There’s a lot of things you could do in the water if you know how to swim.
If you know how to swim, you can dive, you can float, you can sink, you can make bubbles, and you can go anywhere around the pool, or the river, or the ocean.
If you can swim, then, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘨𝘰 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘱.
Every time we swim in the river, my cousins would cross the other side of the bank to play tag leaving me on my own in the shallows.
It sucks to be in the shallows. It’s no fun at all. And not challenging.
One day I said to myself that I must learn how to swim so I could go to the deep.
I want to go to the deep!
I cannot stay in the shallows forever. Shallow places are too bounded, very limited … boring!
I have to learn how to swim.
With all guts and determination, the 5-year-old me stood up from the rock where I was sitting on. Gathering every courage I could get, I stared at the water and watched it move.
𝘊𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳. 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘥. 𝘝𝘪𝘨𝘰𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘴. 𝘛𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨!
The water was calling me to dive in.
And I did.
I jumped into the water … 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘶𝘯𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘯!
And splash!!!
I sank into the water but I couldn’t swim. I didn’t know how to swim. The water wrapped around me wrestling with me and tried to drown me, but I was headstrong. I constrained myself to paddle, to survive, to live, to never die!
I didn’t fight against the current. I embraced it and flowed with it ‘til I found myself one with the waters. I paddled like a frog and lifted my head above the water to breathe. Sooner I realized that I made it to the other side of the river.
I learned to swim!
That was one of the greatest adventures I had as a kid.
It was a risk and I took the risk without even giving it a second thought.
Since then I could enjoy the water, the depth, the limitless bounds, and the joy! I can do more than I could in the shallows.
Spiritually, my soul longs to go deeper as well. I’d been in the shallows for quite a long time, and experiencing the deep, I could tell the difference in my walk with God. 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗚𝗼𝗱, 𝗛𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗛𝗶𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗛𝗶𝗺.
And the best part? He reveals secrets and mysteries that go beyond your imaginations.
Now, I challenge you!
𝗚𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗚𝗼𝗱.
Don’t settle with just enough.
If you think you’ve gone deeper, well, the water is still yet too deep. You can never measure God. And even if you think you’ve gone to the deepest, He can still take you to the deepest of deepest.
Come on!
𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲!
𝗚𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿!
