Caramel Sundae
I hate caramel
And I hate caramel sundaes
They were your favourite dessert
I hate how every time I come across a caramel sundae
All I see are your large calloused hands wrapped around the cup
Your long bony fingers lifting the spoon to your mouth
I hate caramel
I hate how it tastes
It tastes like your round pink lips, a little chapped from where you bite them,
Every time you concentrate
I hate caramel
I hate its swirls of brown and golden
Like the pools of sunlight that were your eyes
Drowning me with every glance
I hate caramel sundaes
I hate the sticky sweet feeling
Like the feeling of being in love with you
A fly caught in honey
Trapped, but full of joy
But is the taste worth the cost?
I hate caramel sundaes
I hate how the syrup strings like cheese when you take a scoop
Little waterfalls of golden ambrosia trickling down the sides
Like the strands of your hair
Long, silky, golden brown hair
You’d let me run my hands through it and braid it whenever it wasn’t in a man-bun
I hate caramel
And I hate caramel sundaes
And most of all,
I hate you
