Like mother, like son.
There are gentle reminders as to Zayn’s force, as his voice twirls around in tandem with the production, one never out-doing the other, always in synchronised harmony. He’s the most successful former One Direction member with good reason, and this album is a high-water mark for the 25-year-old. A 27-track mosaic to be poured over time and again, ‘Icarus Falls’ is the pop star cementing himself in the echelon of stardom.

he can feel his chest seizing, breath bottled up inside it. he’s afraid to exhale. if he does, he thinks he might choke. her voice doesn’t get any less soft.
“i can tell, though. she always tells me how smart i am. i worry.”
“don’t do that,” he whispers. she’s so small. he’s not sure her little body is built to take a weight like that. she looks at him curiously.
“why not? i’ve heard all those stories, the ones about people who are sad like her. sometimes, they get too sad, and they leave. i don’t want her to leave.”
he’s vaguely aware of the rattling in his ribcage, how his stomach twists violently at the notion. leaving. it’s enough to make him taste bile at the back of his throat.
“i love her,” she finishes quietly. “i don’t want her to leave.”
I was feeling distraut after group, and I reached out to some people from treatment from NY and Boston, and awww these girls are so so so sweet. I should honestly talk to them more often.
Icarus Falls is a mammoth of an album. At 27 songs, Zayn’s sophomore solo album is an hour-and-a-half-long dive into the highs and lows of relationships, the comfort of having someone who understands you and the hurt of being betrayed by someone you cared about. Like Mind Of Mine, it’s alternately horny and vengeful, but at 27 songs Icarus Falls is hard to sum up in a neat couple of paragraphs. After a few listens through, “Back To Life” is my early favorite song on the record. It’s a dense and sexy electro-pop banger about the kind of love that saves your life. Zayn tosses off a million what-ifs and imagined disasters, but one he loves is there for him through everything, giving him “oxygen when it gets hard to breathe” and assuaging his anxiety with her steady comfort. Zayn is too often painted as the moody, broody bad boy in press and other narratives, but his music shows that he is actually a dedicated romantic. Also, the bass on this one is just really hot.

It's so difficult to accept my body after weight gain. My team says this is where I need to be, so I guess I'll trust my team, but wow it's harm.
On another note.... Yesterday I realized I've actually only been home for one month. That's it. It feels like I've been home for so much longer.
I'm getting lunch with my best friend, M, but I'm early (bc I stopped at the bank first and that was really fast when I expected it to take a minute). We're meeting at noon, and right now it is 11:46 but I've been here a few minutes already. Maybe she'll be early too. At noon I'm gunna go get a table either way though. But I don't wanna sit alone hogging a table for tooooo long.
