Higurashi Gou episode 19 was really good! It’s not necessarily an episode that gives me loads to say - rather it just did an excellent job at getting me engaged and invested in what was going on. I found the slice of life study scenes accompanied by a really lovely insert song to be super cute and well done and I was having a lot of fun with it; there was genuine tension regarding whether Satoko would make it into St. Lucia or not and I was very much on edge as to if she’d make it or not, popping off appropriately when she did of course; and I think they did a great job at making St. Lucia feel like a place that’s very suffocating for Satoko and her relationship with Rika, and I also felt like the context of the scenario is such that I’m not frustrated by the evident miscommunication between Rika and Satoko. Sure they could resolve at least some of this by just talking to one another, but then I feel like I get why they’re not talking to one another, which is great because now this melodrama doesn’t feel contrived and we can use it to steer us towards some classic Higurashi horror. Can’t wait for next week’s episode.

Cells at Work Black episode 8 was another solid one, show good. Ngl Red Blood Cell could’ve been boy of the season if this season wasn’t as stacked as it is - man’s world is shit but he’s grinning and bearing it, his dedication and ability to commit himself in spite of the situation is extremely respectable.
