K5 (20 Tetrahedra), Byriah Loper || 120 units (2.79 x 27.94, 1:10) Instructions in Byriah Loper’s Mind-Blowing Modular Origami

I accessed the instructions since my origami club has a copy of the book, but if you wanna make this you could just use the Francis Ow 60 degree unit from 1:10 paper, and then copy judiciously off of reference photos. The harder part is weaving each group of 4 into a mega-tetrahedron, but I think there’s photos of the relevant part of the book floating around somewhere.

Speaking of which, each group of 4 forming one “big” tetrahedron has a chiral symmetry, and idk if it matters which way the chirality of the mega tetrahedra interacts with the chirality of the tetrahedron 5-compound, so i just copied off the photos lol try it and tell me if something bad happens when you do it the other way

As is, the model is extremely loose and suffers a lot of deformity when not placed on a frictional surface like a couch; maybe there were issues with cutting the paper and I ended up with slightly too long strips. You could try for slightly shorter strips but a small change makes a HUGE difference; I wouldn’t aim for more drastic than 1:9.8 or so.
