体調が微妙に回復しないうちに仕事納めの日となった。なんとなく締まりのない、ぼんやりとした年末を迎えることになってしまった。11月前から急にTumblrの更新頻度が増えたのは、体調が整わなくて家にいることが多かったからだ。有給がすっからかんになったりして困ったこともあったけれど、日記を書くこと楽しいって感情を思い出せて、私にとっては少しよかったのかもしれない。すっかり忘れていた、また歩き出すために、ここに負の感情を置きに来ていた日々のことを。
体調を崩してからよくひっそりと転職サイトを眺めていること、多分夫は気付いている。仕事を休んで積読を消化したり、映画を観たりしていても、夫は何も言わないばかりか、色々と気にかけて優しい言葉をくれる。家族というだけで、なんの見返りも求めていないそれらは、私の気持ちをふんわりほどいてくれるときもあれば、過去の実家でのあれこれを思い出させる引き金にもなる。この人ともっと早く出会えていれば、と思う反面、私の精神を安定させるための道具みたいに夫を使うのは間違っているとも感じる。
年末年始は、夫の祖母が亡くなったこともあり別々で帰省する。帰るのが今から億劫だが、甥っ子に会えることだけを支えにチケットを取った。帰ってしまえば多少の引っかかりに目を瞑って数日はいける、と呪文みたいに唱える。甥が生まれたことで少し埋まった溝がまたじわじわと深まり始めたのを、ここ最近の帰省で感じずにはいられない。こんなこと、いつまで続けるのか。あるのかも分からない、また上がる時をじっと待っている胸の内を、私はまだ夫に知って欲しくないと思っている。

We are limitless in how we can frighten ourselves with the most horrific and unimaginable scenarios, involving the destruction of the body and creating unfathomable creatures, all for entertainment.
