I found a bag of pictures under my bed. Aunt Annie (she’s in the red blouse) passed a few days ago. I don’t have many pictures of her but I feel this one accurately displays my interactions with her. Her and my grandma at the kitchen table just talking. I will miss her stories, the history of our family, but most of all her laugh. It was infectious. The second picture is one I didn’t realize I had. It’s “the boys of 125 Jeffers Street.” I was in college when this picture was taken. I’m sure I was so annoyed with them. Dear Grandma, Today makes it 16 years since you passed. I miss the way you would sing my name. I miss you telling me to not worry and that everything will be alright. (Yes, I have a couple of people in my life who tell me the same you did). I miss your cooking. I miss “tea and crumpets.” Although much time has passed (your great granddaughter in one of the last pics taken of you is a teen and embodies your Gemini spirit) I’ve so needed your guidance lately. Late August/Early September is when I miss my grandma the most. What makes my grief go into overdrive is seeing the morningglories in bloom. This is next door from my house.
