Something I quickly came to enjoy in Canberra was the shopping. There was access to shopping malls that were considered gargantuan in size to my small-town-square conditioned brain. Never before in my life had I had such easy access to places the size of Belconnen Mall, or Civic. Before, to reach places of that size, we would have had to drive for one and a half hours, but now all it took was a 20-minute drive, and we were there. Though I’d never enjoyed shopping, the novelty of having that sized mall so close to us was invigorating. I could almost feel the sales calling to me, simply begging me to buy things. It was books, and clothes galore, and I could not get enough of it.
