I was talking with the gardener and I realized I haven’t used the pool all year. Unexpectedly, this fact made me quite sad. I asked the him to drain it another time and today I shall go swim, just so that I can say I used it this year. I can at least fulfill one dream.
Nick was so kind when leaving, he said I am worth more than the bunch of them. He really is a good man.

We went to New York and what was supposed to be a delightful day in the city turned into my worst nightmare. The argument was absolutely horrendous. Daisy now knows I bootleg alcohol for a living, she must think of me as such a cheap sharper, but I still love her.
She killed a woman. I took the blame, obviously, I would do anything to protect her. If Tom ever finds out it was her that was driving… I don’t want to even think about it. That’s why I stood outside their house, just in case something happened, I could help, but thankfully nothing did.
Nick suggested I go away for some time, what a foul proposition. I could never abandon Daisy, let alone now, not at least until I know what she decides to do. It’s not over yet, and I can’t leave when I am this close to my dream. She was just shocked to hear I am a fraud, and yes, she might have loved Tom for a while, but I was always more important to her. I had to be.
Nobody has ever measured, not even poets, how much the heart can hold.

I have finally seen you, talked to you, touched you. I was so stunned, I made an utter fool of myself. It was such a shock to see you to finally be in the moment I anticipated for so many years. Daisy, you looked different, you acted differently. However, your lovely voice stayed the same, mesmerizing me. I admit, the encounter was awkward at first, nothing like the reunion that I imagined. For a moment, I felt as if all of this was for nothing. However, after some time, I could see, and feel, our old selves climbing out of our souls and coexist in absolute bliss. When you cried tears of joy, I felt as if you were washing away all of the doubts I ever had. I was so engrossed in you and re-exploring our romance, I didn’t even notice when Nick left. I am beyond happy. Of course I am, I am with you, my darling.
Troublesome thoughts
I had to get up from my bed and write my thoughts somewhere. My head is filled with unwanted thoughts… The audacity they have to prevent me from rest.
I am a good person. I am a wealthy person. The years have flown by and I have achieved so much for you. However, I begin to doubt if you will love me. I lied to everyone... A wealthy family, what a joke! What if you do not love deceitful people? But I am rich, I can support you, that is not a lie in the slightest, my love. I am all you wanted from me. But what if one day, someone reveals my secrets and you would be too embarrassed to be involved with someone like me? No. I am a good person. I live with love in my heart and that love is what I deserve from others. Yes, I altered my past a bit, but it does not make a difference, my image just seems a bit better. Anyhow, that is the past Jay Gatsby deserves, what I deserve. I told old Nick the more appealing version of my story. I lied to my friend so that all of this does not go to waste, so that I can be with you. There is no harm in that.
These thoughts will pass. I have worked so much for this, for us, and I will feel the warm embrace of your equally returned love no matter what people say.

Sometimes, I feel people forget I am an actual person. These parties I organize are always very interesting experiences for me. When I find that Daisy hadn’t came, as always, I often overhear what people think of me. The stories I hear! Some even suggested I am the relative of Kaiser Wilhelm or that I killed people! Am I really so unreadable to my guests? They are amusing, however I don’t ever want these accusations to influence what Daisy or Nick think of me. I should probably address them and talk to Nick, so that he doesn’t think I shall be bad for his cousin.
A photograph from a small party that was held last Saturday at my mansion. I did not take part in the event after I saw that Daisy had, again, not shown up. However, someone has given me this photograph they had taken in my grand house. At least the people there were enjoying themselves.

The green light gives me so much hope. Today I have been looking out onto your dock, trembling. You are so close yet so far away. I have achieved so much, but still you are not standing here with me, but I know you will be. You are right next to that light that I am looking at.
I have heard that my new neighbor is somehow related to you, my darling. I feel that, finally, we may see each other soon. Daisy, I have done so much for you. I have given my entire life and soul to you and your love. I believe with every day, we are closer to happiness, to being together. I know you love me, and that I love you too.
