Bartlet's lover called him to his chambers on the day of another failed harvest, seeming to be shaking with fear. The woman was far lower than his family in station, as a servant to their family, but he hated to see her so afraid.

As she explained to him that she has skipped her cycle and she had been feeling ill and she was certain that she was with child. She reassured him that she wouldn't bother him with such matters if she wasn't sure.

Bartlet gave her a knowing smile. "My dear, I had already promised the Watcher that if something was to come of our. . . situation that I would marry you. You do not need to fear. I am sure that if we pay the church, they would happily let us wed; even if we will have to put the party off until after this horrible famine has passed."

"Oh, Your Grace -!"

"Bartlet, dear. I am to be your husband."

"Bartlet. I don't need a party, the fact that you are willing to wed me and support our child is more than enough."

For the briefest moment, the two of them just beamed at each other. It would be strange to be married again and he hoped this wasn't an insult to his late wife's memory - but he is not in a place where he can afford illegitimate children.

Crowned Prince Adrian Almanzor was found collapsed on the floor of the throne room. He had been giving a good majority of his food to his pregnant wife and daughter to make sure they were getting enough to eat, but the hunger just became too much.

Princess Elise begged to the watcher to spare her love. She had a child on the way that would need their father, but her prayer went unanswered.

King Mateo was in shock after the death of his only child and heir. While his council suggested male nephews and cousins as his new potential heir, he knew exactly who he wanted to rule his kingdom when he was gone. He called his granddaughter, Princess Dionora to the throne room days after the funeral. She was devastated by the death of her father. Her mother had locked herself in her bedroom crying all hours of the day, which worried Dionora even more. King Mateo offered some words of comfort, wanting her to know that he will be here for her in her time of need.

After sometime of talking, he could see the ease in her eyes and he decided to bring up the reason he called for her.

"I want to name you as my heir," King Mateo said.

"But I'm a girl," Princess Dionora said in disbelief. She had heard from the king's advisors her whole life about the kingdoms need for a male heir after her father. She had grown use to the idea that she was seen as useless.

"There have been many powerful queens in our line who have done great things for SierraLuz," King Mateo said placing his hands on her shoulder. "And I know, you will one day be as great as those queens, if you accept the title."

Princess Dionora didn't know what came over her but the nervousness that crept up her throat as her grandfather was talking was pushed down and a feeling of determination came over her. She held her head up high and nodded.

King Mateo smiled and gave her a hug. He quickly shared the news with the rest of his court and kingdom about the news. Their new heir to the throne is the Crowned Princess María Dionora Isabella of House Almanzor.
