Street Art & Music: Make Koler Kooler with Bartleby Delicate & Seed To Tree
A perfect day, albeit with a wet start as we drove straight into a thunderstorm arriving at Koler in the afternoon. Okay, this was probably just the fair punishment for not coming earlier in order to see All Reitz Reserved. No time to wait it out in the car though as we didn’t want to miss the start of Bartleby Delicate’s set. After a relativley short walk through the rain – long enough though to get wet despite umbrella - we were relieved to find the stage was inside a tent.
A crowded tent of course, as we weren’t the only ones to search refuge from the storm. Alas, that meant the people weren’t there because of the music which resulted in quite noisy chatter, even during songs 😔 I’ll spare you the result of me trying to take a video nontheless – have this one instead:
Really looking forward now to the special Exit:LX Session at Rotondes next month where only 80 people will be admitted, so we can be sure to be amongst fellow, attentively listening music lovers 😊
Make Koler Kooler wasn’t a music festival, it was the vernissage of a street art project by 24-year-old local artist Alain Welter. So after Bartleby Delicate’s set, Mel an me took a walk through the village to have a look at the graffiti pieces (rain had stopped and it was sunny for the rest of the day).
(I posted an album here with added descriptions)
After that, it was time for – the FIFA World Cup Final. If you haven’t been aware of my interest in soccer, that’s because it is non existent, but there was public viewing on the site, so... Well, you know the result of the game, all I can tell you is that the excitement in Koler about it was very limited (the crowd actually was loudest for Croatia’s second goal), not sure if that was a pro-Croatia or simply an anti-France thing 😜 It was quite fun, though without being able to hear the commentary, I sometimes had problems to understand what was going on *ahem*
In the half-time break, I had found out where all the people walking through the village had their maps from and consulting it, we realised that we hadn’t yet seen all of the art pieces. So another walk it was, and quite a long one too, as some of the works were situated in the fields around Koler. It’s a lovely village, very rural and with lots of animals – you can have a look at my photos here if you’re interested. Our plan had been to be back in time for Räpzodi, but they started early and we didn’t make it.
Seed To Tree closed the evening, and if the crowd was loud, it was for all the right reasons this time 😃 Apart from the music, I particularly liked the effect of the tent roof on the light show - or vice versa (my complete photo set can be found here)
Again, there were new songs from the upcoming album, inlcuding one never played live before as the second (!) encore, but also a very old one from Seed To Tree’s debut EP, requested by Alain Welter. A choice so obviously approved by the audience, Broken Down might well make its way back onto the setlist after not having been played for three years:
Probably the best crowd I’ve ever seen at a Seed To Tree gig – there even was a mosh pit during Take My Hand 😮 Let’s wait and see if the audience at Last Summer Dance festival on September 2nd can compete!
ritaora: From the show Last night in Manchester! What a night ❤️🔥 And thank you @Liampayne singing For you is always fun!
