Fellow Math Cattos
You may have noticed just now I dropped the "(Element Cattos)" thing I put in my titles, so why is that? Well, the thing is, this Math Cattos project has drifted away enough from EC that it kinda became its own thing...? I mean, it has nothing to do with chemistry at all, so...
Putting away that tangent (no pun intended), here's more math cattos, since this concept has received so much love recently! Also, don't worry if my typing sounds really weird right now, I don't know why my speech is like that right now. (I typed this like 4 days ago in the middle of the night, now that I remember.)
Derivative Operator.
They are agender and go by they/them pronouns.
Their design is based on Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, due to them being based on the Leibniz notation for the differential operator that takes the derivative of a function. Due to a derivative lying tangent to a function, i.e. it touching the function itself (the word "tangent" is borrowed from the Latin word "tangentem", which is the accusative of "tangēns", which means "touching"), they really love physical touch, thus often hugging derivable functions, such as Quadratic Function. Like Neodymium being obsessive over magnetic elements, they are obsessive over derivable functions. They are an empath, due to the act of deriving a function determining the rate of growth of functions, additionally, they can deduce the economic status of a derivable function. When they hug a derivable function, such function gets turnt into a derivative and gains a line that lies tangent to their body. They can also derive a function by using their tangent line stick and making it lie tangent on a function.
When they bump into Integral Symbol, due to an integral being the antiderivative, and thus the opposite of a derivative, the both of them explode, much like matter and antimatter exploding when they come in contact. They are seen as weird by others and are thus lonely, but when not being seen as an outcast and actually get respected for once, they can be extremely friendly.
Force.
She is female and goes by she/her pronouns.
She is based on the force derived from mass times acceleration (F=ma) and resembles Isaac Newton due to him discovering such equation.
She is quite irritable and defensive over things and often engages in physical violence, sometimes making her act irrationally and backfiring, like that one time she suplexed Hooke's Law (F=kx), whose head is attached to a spring, thus exerting force onto the spring, which springed back up, launching her into the sky. She is quite protective of her relatives, Mass, Acceleration, Velocity, etc. and gets along with them very well, however, sometimes they poke fun at her when she acts without thinking and facing the consequences. She is of massive strength. She is a tsundere, since when one does not know her well, she is quite abrasive, but when bonding with her, she is actually very kind. She likes to watch Velocity go around places in a scooter. Since Acceleration, one of her relatives, is extremely playful, they often play games together.
Quadratic Function.
She a q is the function f(x)=ax^2+bx+c=0, aa
AHEM.
She is female and goes by she/her pronouns.
She is a quadratic function of a single variable of the form f(x)=ax^2+bx+c=0, where a does not equal zero, x is its variable and a, b and c are coefficients.
She has a worm-like body, as a nod to the design choice taken by members of the Math Cattos project of giving trigonometric functions snake-like bodies. Her position resembles a parabola, she can also change her position to look like a parabola facing up instead of down instead, where in that case her head would be touching the ground.
Her eye is a square due to the adjective "quadratic" coming from the Latin word "quadrātum", which means "square". Notably, her design contains several references towards parabolae, like how her whiskers are actually an alteration of a parabola, where its bottom is chopped off, only leaving the two ends of it for each set of whiskers. Her mouth is also in the shape of a parabola.
She has a necklace with the complex circle on it, due to her having complex roots, the way the necklace drops also resembles a parabola. Her ears are parabolae, she has two thin cowlicks that together resemble a parabola.
She has a long fringe that covers one of her eyes and is shaped like a parabola, the middle of it has a dotted line that says "x=-(b/2a)", being an axis of symmetry, she also has eyebrows that are references to the roots of the quadratic, based on this image:
She is interested in words as a hobby, due to the Spanish word "palabra", which means "word", being derived from the Latin word "parabola", which has "comparison" as its main meaning, the Latin word being borrowed from Ancient Greek as "parabolḗ", which means "comparison". Due to this, she also likes to make comparisons and has an interest in the concept of difference.
She also likes diversity, i.e. groups being heterogeneous, and is extremely repulsed by discrimination, she has never called a single individual "weird". She is a notably calm and well versed individual, she is one of the top students in Square Root of Two's algebra class. She is quite ingenuous and thus often does not pick up on the negative connotations of things. Pi admires her due to her not overthinking things and overall having childlike simplicity, just like himself.
She feels a lot of sympathy for Derivative Operator and will often let them hug her.
Square Root of Two.
He is male and goes by he/him pronouns. He is also known as Pythagoras' number or Pythagoras' constant.
He is based on the square root of two, which is an algebraic irrational number. His body is like a tree and has visible roots at the bottom, as a pun on him being the square root of two. His outfit is based on Pythagoras, due to Pythagoreans discovering that the diagonal of a square is incommensurable with its side, thus, the square root of two is irrational. His value is also the length of the hypotenuse of a right-angle triangle that has a base of length 1 and base 1. He is holding the trigonometric unit circle due to the Pythagorean theorem having a use in trigonometric functions. He is throwing a ball, due to its trajectory forming a parabola, which is a quadratic function, i.e. a polynomial of degree two, which as a term raised to the second power, and the opposite of a term being squared is a square root.
He is very fond of Pi (my Pi) due to the both of them having strong ties with trigonometry, which had significant progress thanks to Ancient Greek mathematicians. He is also a teacher as another reference towards Pythagoras, however, he teaches highschool algebra and not trigonometry.
Vinculum.
They go by any pronouns and his gender is "yo mama", without the quotes.
She is based off the mathematical symbol vinculum, which has various uses, but generally groups the elements of a mathematical expression. Its name means "link" in Latin. They are a sort of cupid, hence the bow, arrow and wings, however, when two individuals are hit by their cupid arrow, they do not fall in love together, instead, a giant semi-transparent 2D PNG of Vinculum appears above them together, when the people of the couple walk away from eachother, the Vinculum image gets stretched out.
Vinculum is somewhat charismatic, extremely silly and likes to joke around, often creating memes, its sense of humor is a bit broken. He advocates for peace and friendship quite strongly, and thus will try to break any fights present. She has an interest in sociology, due to sociology being the study of social behavior and relationships.
