What I learned at 16

I will be turning 17 next week Tuesday (April 3rd 2018). I have come to the realization of many things this past year. i learnt that not every term i can get good grades, i learnt that not all progress is the same, i learnt to not beat up over my problems and to grow from what I’ve learnt. I experienced my first boyfriend and in turn my first heartbreak. I realized that although he broke my heart i still love him (strong words for a young teen i know) so i decided to atleast still be his friend and its perfect its like nothing changed and i am so happy for it. i had applied for the college of my dreams, i reached to the final stage of acceptance and then got turned down. But that taught me that not everything is set in stone and to have back up plans. over this year i also had a body change, from going a size 26 depressed teen at 187 lbs i lost 42 lbs at size 6 and then gained back 5 lbs. although gaining this weight i am a little upset but i don’t cry when i see myself in the mirror anymore.

i smile and say “look how far you have come. i’m proud of you”.

 i even changed religions, this caused me to lose friends and respect from some family members but i think this religion suits me way more and i am okay with it.

 I’m scared to see what 17 brings me, secondary school graduation, jobs, new school, driving, possibly moving out and even my first tattoo (hopefully).

 But none the less i hold my head up high and look to the sky i am ready for whatever is thrown at me.
