So I already had a busy fuckin week and I’m tired but I had sent off my lesson plan for this bimonthly eikaiwa class that I do that’s not really an english class because there’s kids ranging from 2 to 12 and they don’t listen or do anything and the teachers don’t bother doing anything to help me either.
So I decide “Hey! let’s learn the alphabet” do the alphabet song, have some games, and let them learn words that start with a b c etc.
She messages me back telling me it’s TOO HARD and the kids just CAN’T DO IT and then goes on to tell me to make a “3 hint quiz” which is something 6th graders can barely do because it’s thinking of an object or thing and coming up with 3 hints about it in english and guessing and I’m like “that sounds harder than learning the alphabet” and she gets fucken pissed at me dude and starts telling me to make worksheets and all this stuff that I don’t have time for unless I want to stay up late and have it half assed in general (I’ve sent her lesson plans earlier and she never responds until the last minute anyways so that’s out of the question)
So THEN. I tell her “I’m sorry but I’m very busy and making lessons for this class is difficult because the older students will get bored with this lesson because it’s too easy, and then they will disrupt the class” because they DO they scream and scare the younger kids and they don’t listen to me so lmao. And the kids learn 0 english because the teachers translate EVERYTHING I say. I’ll say hello and she’ll translate it.
She goes on to tell me that “well I know you’re busy but you have to make worksheets” and it’s like thats???? not my issue????? it’s the fact that you don’t wrangle the kids like ur supposed to?????? and don’t help me???? with anything? And so I make an enirely new lesson with minimal english because apparently letters are too hard and you know what?
I’d be... marginally okay with this if I was getting paid for this but guess what!!!
I’m not getting paid! I have to do this shit and not get paid because my board of education decided it!!!! I’m going to my BOE this weekend or something to complain because I’m not doing this and dealing with a defunct class for 0 dollars lmao. It’s no support, no structure, and also? No english like I could just sit and let the kids play for an hour and they’d learn the same amount of english as when I try to make a lesson.
