It's been a long time since I've last drawn Kay.

Was going to be another character, but then I heard Steven Universe music and started thinking about Kay and all the gems in their little colony and how much I miss how things used to be. I also think about my friend's gems.

She doesn't normally have an elf shaped ear but was giving it a try but will probably go back to no visible ear.

Someday, I would like to start drawing a comic on them again. But until then, enjoy this drawing of Kay.

I’m alive, just been working on original stuff and having no-one to interact with here.

Not her actual colours, just used pens that I had available to me. She’s fully purple, mainly pastel purples.

She’s a Purple diamond but she doesn’t exactly know that or know even what a diamond is.

She is just a giant softie who loves all her small gem friends.

Kay continues to keep her arms very still while Bismuth, Beth and Zim continue to work on patching the stone hand. Only moving them when needed to. She looks towards Black and says confused “Hwa? Uh you’re not comi- ah~”

Abby suddenly came out carrying Pearly which Kay stopped talking and took notice of her friend.

Abby “Ah sorry to interrupt um, Cherry, Popper, Zixie. Abby knows an exciting adventure Abby can show you.” 

Cherry “Wha- really?” 

Zixie “Oooohhh that’s exciting.” 

Popper: “Is it alright for us to go on this adventure?”

Abby “Yeah, Murasaki and Milly know about it and said it was fine, you’re cool with it too right Kay?”

Kay smiles “Of course, you go have fun cuties.”

Abby “Abby will be sure of that! Toffee, you can come also if you want.”

Toffee “Ah, are you sure?”

Abby “Yes, Abby’s sure.”

Lala “Lilac and I are going to stick with Kay.”

Abby “Alright! Well, time for Abby to show you the fun adventure. First thing first, will be taking the new warp pad to Black’s planet and then to the starting area of the adventure. Follow Abby.” 

Kay “Ahh See you cuties, please stay safe and have fun.”

Abby, Pearly, Toffee, Cherry, Popper and Zixie go to the new warp pad on top of the hill and warp out.

Kay “...…Uhhhh now what was I going to say again... Hm, well I hope my friends have fun... Oh that’s right. So you’re going back to your planet also after this Black? Um I was hoping you could come too so things aren’t so unnerving but I do have my friends Lala and Lilac with me so I guess we could try our best to be brave together.”

Kay gasped “This is a statue of a fusion?” her eyes sparkle “Oh” She puts the hand gently onto where Bismuth directed and holds it in place “Uh, is this right? Also uhh well I have one hand free if you need something to stand on while you do the pinned together thing.”

Bismuth: (Steps onto Kays free hand.) Thanks. And yea. You really like fusions?

Beth: Oh yea, there are lots of fusions in both Black and Kays courts. Black diamond’s even fused with other gems before. 

(Black pearl blushed.)

Black diamond: I think it can be a wonderful experience. 

Bismuth: I still can’t believe there are diamonds that are so open. If only you’d been around before the war. You and Rose would have got along great. (She glanced at Steven before clearing her throat, thinking she said too much.)

Black diamond: I believe I dreamed of her once while I was reforming in my gem. She helped me when I first gained my sword too. 

Bismuth: Sword? 

Black diamond: (summoning her sword) Here it is. It used to be very different. Would you like to know what’s interesting? When I was younger I used to use a parasol as a weapon and guess what Kays weapon is.

Kay “This one here? Sure thing, cutie. Also hello” she smiles and gently picks up the hand out of the sand.

Bismuth: (Smiling) Never thought I’d be telling a diamond what to do, huh. That hand attaches over here. If you hold it in place I can get it all pinned together. 

Black diamond: May I ask who the statue is of. Pearl told me it was a fusion. 

Bismuth: Oh yea. This is a statue of Obsidian, the fusion of Rose quartz, Pearl, Garnet and Amethyst. She was a huge, powerful, fusion that stood as a symbol of the crystal gems. 

Black diamond: So many gems working together as one. That’s wonderful. 

Bismuth: She was. Well, is. Steven took Roses position but they’re still obsidian. I guess time took its toll on the statue. 

Beth: (Jumping down from the top of the hillside to help, followed swiftly by Zim.) Can we help. 

Bismuth: Sure. I didn’t think Homeworld let guys like you work for them.

Beth: Blacks court’s different. She appreciates everything we do. Plus this isn’t our first statue so we can definitely help. Oh, I’m Beth and this is Zim. 

Bismuth: Great to have you on the team.

Kay “Ah, sure. As a happy helper, I'd be happy to help out in any way. I’m pretty good at holding things steady in place. It sounds like it could be a lot of fun.”

Black diamond: Wonderful. Well then Steven, you said you had a bismuth friend who was already working on rebuilding your palace’s decoration. It would probably be best to let her tell us what needs to be done. 

Steven: Let me think... Pearl, where do you think Bismuth is? 

Pearl: (Leaning just around the door.) I’m not sure, but I’m sure Peridot’ll know. 

Steven: Good idea. (He took his mobile phone and sent a text. A few minutes later Bismuth emerged from the house.)

Bismuth: Hi Steven. You said something about help to fix the temple?

Steven: Yea. Kay and Black diamond offered to help. They can lift all the really heavy bits out of the sand. 

Bismuth: Huh... I never thought I’d be managing diamonds. Right, lets get down to bismuth. Kay, can you start pulling that hand out of the sand?

Kay got confused and didn’t exactly keep up with all the colonisation and diamond talk, she just smiles and waves at Steven “Hello again, Steven cutie. You were having a nap right? I also napped but I had a scary dream. Do you have dreams when napping?”

Steven: Oh yea. I dream all the time when I sleep. I thought gems didn’t really sleep.

Black diamond: We don’t have to but some of us have learned to enjoy it away from Homeworld. Though it seems we’re prone to visions. 

Black pearl: Beth and Zim have brought the new warp to our planet and the zoo, my diamond. 

Black diamond: Oh wonderful. Where would you like it put Steven?

Steven: Umm... How about... Oh, up by the lighthouse could be a good place. 

Black pearl: A wonderful idea Steven. 

(Two bismuths, one tall and slim and another very short walked out of Black diamonds palanquin carrying a warp pad.)

Black diamond: Would you like a hand?

Beth: Yes please my diamond. 

Black diamond: (Picked the warp pad up like a tray, making it weigh nothing before handing it back to Zim who quietly carried it off without an issue.) There.

Beth: Thank you.

Black diamond: (smiling) Of course.

Steven: Woah... If you can fix big things like that, do you think you could fix the temple? 

Black diamond: I can try but I’ll need help to place everything. 

Steven: I can ask Bismuth. She’s been working on it but with only Peridot and Lapis to help it’s been taking a long time. If she had your help it would be easy. 

Black diamond: What do you think Kay? Would you like to help?

Yellow diamond: Surely you can ask other gems-

Blue diamond: (Placing a hand on her shoulder) Let them have their fun Yellow. We’re in no rush.

Kay was quiet for a few minutes “uhhh, oh, um. It’s scary being in the dark, and lonely sometimes. Uhh, my first friend was Lala.” Lala “Yep, Kay made me.” Kay blushes “Yeah. well, I was, by myself, when I made my friend Lala, but I had some friends help me with my ruby friends. This is Cherry, Popper and Zixie.” she pointed to them with her one free hand as she said their names “also my friend over there, Toffee, an Apple Aura Quartz, my friends helped with her too. Um yeah…”

Yellow diamond: Intriguing. We’re having a resource shortage and if you can make gems of this level with little to no aid you could revolutionise gem production.

Blue diamond: Yellow, Steven said we shouldn’t colonise planets anymore. 

Yellow diamond: I’m sure it would be alright as long as there’s no organic life left on a planet. Black’s sent in hundreds of those. 

Blue diamond: We should still ask him.

Yellow diamond: Fine, fine. 

(The front door of the beach house opened and Steven walked out, rubbing his eyes. He looked up, surprised.)

Steven: Yellow? Blue? Pink goldstone said you were here but she’s said a lot and it’s hard to keep up.

Blue diamond: (smiling) Steven. I hope we aren’t bothering you. 

Steven: No, it’s fine. 

Blue diamond: We wanted to say hello before we left. Black called us to talk about Kays visions and finding out there was another diamond, we just had to see for our selves. 

Steven: Oh, ok. Hi... Um... Before you go... Can I ask, why you didn’t tell me about Black diamond?

Blue diamond: Everything happened so fast. We couldn’t even consider talking about the other diamonds outside the authority. 

Yellow diamond: But it’s out in the open now.

Steven: There’s more?

Yellow diamond: (Chuckling) Oh Steven, of course there are. We can’t be everywhere at once. And apparently White even made diamonds before us.

Kay looks confused. Lala “I remember black pearl mentioning era three but we don’t really know anything on that really? But our friends don’t seem like they're unnerved at all?”Toffee “I think they’re talking about Abby, she’s a bit too nervous to come out right now and is being protective of a friend. I’m sure she’ll settle down soon.” Cherry, Popper and Zixie playfully run down to Kay who then happily picks them up.

Yellow diamond: They look like quality Rubies. Being able to make such gems alone is quite remarkable. 

Blue diamond: It’s been so long since I hand made a gem. Seeing them light up for the first time is so exciting. My first gem was a tiny aquamarine. 

Yellow diamond: Mine was an agate. She was such a good leader.

Blue diamond: Oh do you remember Pinks?

Yellow diamond: It was a little rose quartz. (They both look sad for a moment) Anyway, yes, era three. After Steven showed us how much damage we were doing to our gems and ourselves we began a new era. I’m dismantling my armies. 

Blue diamond: Our gems can do what they want to do instead of us dictating what they have to do. Pearl has been so happy. She’s been displaying some of her drawings in the palace. I’d never seen her smile so much before. White’s even started to visit more. I hadn’t realised how dark her private rooms were. It’s not good for a gem to be in the dark so long.

Cherry, Popper and Zixie who were also inside got excited “Wha! Kay’s back, Black and two more giant cuties!?” They run outside and wave from the veranda, being out of sync to each other “Kay!” Kay cheerfully waves back. Pearly tries to follow but Abby picks her up “Ah, please don’t go out there yet, Abby needs to keep you safe. Toffee, can you follow them to keep them safe also.” Toffee “Yeah” she also walks outside, waves then starts watching the rubies. Kay “Oh yay, my friends are here too.”

Yellow diamond: Kay, your gems are a little ... Unnerved by us.

Blue diamond: Didn’t they hear about era three? We won’t harm them.

Yellow diamond: Especially on Stevens planet.

Kay smiles brightly “Alright, well I would gladly come with you cuties then. But before we go, we should see Steven. But after Steven’s done with napping of course.” Lala “The sun is rising into the sky, I read in a book that the sun rising means it’s time to wake up.”

Black diamond: Of course. Hope Steven’s rested well. 

Black pearl: I like his palace. It’s in a statue of a huge fused gem.

Black diamond: Oh that’s wonderful. We should wait outside. Could you check to see if he’s awake?

Black pearl: I’d be happy to my diamond. 

(They made their way to the beach house and made themselves comfortable just outside on the sand. Black pearl ran up to the door and knocked politely, not seeing any kind of bell or access pad. Pink goldstone answered.)

Pink goldstone: Hello Pearl. My Steven’s about to have break fast. I’m not sure what that is, but it seems important to him. He’s in his extraction chamber right now. He spent a lot of time laying very still under a very soft blanket. His pearl was watching over him too. 

Black pearl: It sounds like you’ve been settling in. Could you tell him Blue, Yellow, Black and Kay are here to see him?

Pink goldstone: Right away.

Kay “Uhhh, my friends have a ship but I never really travelled much before so I never really needed or wanted to have a ship. I guess space isn’t as scary when being in a ship but I like being with my friends more than being on ships. But I think I would like to come but only if these cuties want me to come (shifts her view to the cluster cuties) What do you think? Would you like me to come?”

(Yellow diamond blinks, trying to keep up with what Kay is saying.)

Forehead cluster gem: That would be nice. We like you. 

Black diamond: See? It’ll be fine. I’m sure you’ll enjoy seeing so many other gems, and I’m sure they’ll love to see you.

Kay with worried eyes looks at yellow and blue for a moment, then back at the two cluster cuties “Uh, are you sure that they would do a scary bad thing to your gem, cuties? And uh, I hope your friends will be alright and can get back safely and happy.”

Forehead cluster gem: (stuttering) we have so many memories. Splintered. Shards. But we feel scared. 

Navel cluster gem: We’ll be ok. I trust Black diamond. If she says she will protect us then I’m sure we’ll be fine. (She grins brightly)

Black pearl: (Hands the cluster gem a screen) If you need us you can contact us with this. 

Yellow diamond: Kay, would you like to join us? You aided in our warp technology so you may find it interesting. We won’t be going to Homeworld so you don’t have to worry about White. Do you have a ship? A palanquin? 

[askblackdiamond]

Kay softly “Uh, Black, The cluster cuties look like they are afraid of Yellow and Blue diamond. Let’s go and check if they’re alright and to give them support, okay?” She holds Black hand and walks to the Cluster gems “We’re now close to the Cluster cuties. I’m going to sit down” She lets go of Black’s hand and sits “Uhm, hello again. A-are you alright cuties?”

(The cluster gems looked between Kay and the diamonds and slowly lowered their shield.)

Forehead cluster gem: We are a none standard gem. We are... What are we?

Yellow diamond: My stars. They’re brand new. I’ve never seen a gem like these.

Chest cluster gem: We are clusters.

Yellow diamond: Oh no, you’re much more than that now... I... I doubt you will wish to but... If a guarantee your safety, may I study you? 

Forehead cluster gem: N-no! No, you’ll shatter us!

Navel cluster gem: We wouldn’t mind... As long as we’re safe we... I would like to know what I am.

Black diamond: Only if you’re sure. I promise I’ll protect you if you need me to. 

Chest cluster gem: We can’t. We’re going to find the others. (She disappears in a flash.)

Blue diamond: She... She just teleported. How strong are these gems?

Black diamond: I have no idea. But as long as they’re happy it doesn’t matter how strong they are.

Yellow diamond: Excuse the expression but don’t you think you’re being a little short sighted? What if they are powerful and lose control ? They could hurt someone.
