hello, sorry if you've already answered this, but why must leopard geckos be fed LIVE insects?
Hi! For one most leopard geckos won't even bother with any food pellets or dried insects. The other problem is these insects are very low on any nutrition, where as live insects are packed with nutrients. Even if the dried insects were gut loaded prior they still do not have the nutrition needed to support a healthy life for a leopard gecko. Its like eating potato chips vs vegetables. Its also the same as a veggie picked straight from the garden has more vitamins and nutritional value than a veggie thats been sitting in your fridge for a few days. Pellet foods aren't even worth trying or giving even as a treat as again, leos most likely wont even eat it. the other problem with pellet foods is its very low on nutrition and is full of fillers and other added ingredients that leos have no need for. Canned insects are not only gross but follow the same rule. Not much nutrition to support a healthy leopard gecko. As soon as anything dies it starts to decay and loose nutritional value. Leopard geckos might live or survive on these diets, but it will not support health or keep them healthy. They will not thrive on these diets. There is a huge difference between living and thriving. If you (not meaning you specifically, I mean anyone on this) can not handle feeding live insects then any insectivorous / omnivorous reptile is not for you.I hope that answered your question! And hopefully it doesn't sound rude oAo its not intended that way.
