Sew â80s- Dayoung Kim, Delvin McCray, Nancy Volpe-Beringer, Brittany Allen, Victoria Cocieru, and Geoffrey Mac
Sew 80s- Shavi Lewis, Chelsey Carter, Sergio Guadarrama, Marquise Foster, and Melanie Trygg
Nina: [Geoffreyâs] look would be in Elle Magazine in a minute.
Cyndi: Well, arenât you the editor?
Nina: Yes.
Cyndi: Then put it in!
This is comedy gold. I take back all the things I said about Cyndi Lauper earlier.
Project Runway: 18.5 Sew 80s (Losing Team)
Designer: Shavi Lewis
Shavi, I love you, but you also made a costume for Beetlejuice. Or perhaps a homecoming dress for a Beetlejuice-themed dance. Itâ s well-made and fits with the rest of the collection (though a little too short), but I just donât like it.
Designer: Chelsey CarterÂ
I was genuinely scared when I saw Chelsey starting to design this jumpsuit. It looks like something that should be a costume in Beetlejuice. I donât hate it per se, but Iâm not sure I like it either. It just feels like a costume, and my favorite part might be the boots.
Designer: Sergio GuadarramaÂ
Weirdly, as much as I hate Sergio, I did not agree with the judges this week. I actually liked his look. I donât usually go for a sheer top, but I like this one. I particularly enjoy the embellishments he made with safety pins. The pants donâ t entirely work for me, but they could if they didnât have tool trailing behind him.
Designer: Marquise Foster
Oh, Marquise, babe... I love you, but these shorts are awful. They donât fit correctly, and there is a large gap where the zipper is. I absolutely love the jacket, but it is not enough to save this look. Also, lace legwarmers with pink pumps? Absolutely not.
Designer: Melanie TryggÂ
Bye, Melanie! I really wonât miss you because you design largely boring clothing, and this look is just bad. I understand being blocked by the 80s, but the only thing interesting about this look is the bag.
Project Runway: 18.5 Sew 80s (Winning Team)
Designer: Geoffrey MacÂ
Yay for Geoffrey! This was his challenge to win, and I am so pumped for him. His model looks effortlessly cool in the way a punk girl in the 80s would look. I usually hate all black looks, but I really love this one. I like how he created texture and shine with his embellishments. I also love how his model is styled with the crimped hair and the bow.Â
Designer: Victoria Cocieru
Victoria, how many times are you going to make this dress? To be fair to her, this is the best version of this dress. It is meticulously put together, and it honestly looks great in black leather. Her model looks perfect, and I even think Victoria made those boots. I love this look, and I can say I actually think this is one of the top looks this week.Â
Designer: Brittany AllenÂ
Once again, Brittany is KILLING IT! I love a power suit, and this one has a great twist. The color is perfect on the model, and I particularly love the leather bustier. This is an 80s look I can get behind. It has the spirit of the decade while being updated for the modern day.
Designer: Nancy Volpe-Beringer
Nancy, I love you so much. Youâre one of my favorites, but youâre killing me with all this tulle. I would just throw out all the tulle on this look. Without it, Nancyâ s emerald corset and tailored pants would be a rocking look. I know that they had to go extra for the Cyndi Lauper challenge, but I really hate tulle.
Designer: Delvin McCrayÂ
Delvin is about as comfortable designing something 80s inspired as I feel wearing something 80s inspired so I feel like cutting him some slack. Do I like this dress? Eh. I really love the leather work on the top, but the chiffon-y print on the bottom feels out of place. Is it Cyndi Lauper? Again, I have no idea. I do wish his modelâs hair didnât look like she just woke up, but I think that is an 80s thing too.
Designer: Dayoung KimÂ
Though I know it isnât her preferred style, I really like this little black, punk rock dress from Dayoung. The embellishments are cool, and it looks great on her model. Â
I love how all the designers are eagerly waiting for Christian to use the save. We all know heâs not using it yet. Itâs still too early.
Geoffrey won, Melanie has been eliminated, and the world feels fair tonight.
I love this scenario Brandon has created in which he and Cyndi Lauper go to a JLo concert and see her wearing Victoriaâs dress. Oh, and Karlie, Nina, and Elaine can come along if they have extra tickets.
