This Day in Buster…April 12, 1921 “The High Sign" is released. This was the first short Buster Keaton made independently; however he shelved the picture & convinced Joseph Schenck that he should make a completely different movie. When Buster was injured whilst making “The Electric House,” they got the film back off that shelf whilst he recovered.

This Day in Buster…April 24, 1921 The Salina Daily Union reviews “One Week” & claims that it “would start cackles at an undertaker’s convention.”

This Day in Buster… April 19, 1924 “Sherlock Jr.” has its U.S. opening in Boston. Almost 500 feet of finished film was cut after Buster Keaton showed previews to gauge audience reaction. That’s about seven and a half minutes of footage.

This Day in Buster… May 1, 1928

Buster Keaton begins filming “The Cameraman” on the MGM lot after some earlier location filming at Yankee Stadium and on Fifth Avenue. The latter did not go according to plan, which at least allowed Buster to rework and improvise some scenes.
