The Navigator - 1924
Exceedingly handsome 21 ruby jewel Illinois Watch Company pocket watch sporting a "Santa Fe Special" marked movement and bold, unusual dial. Offered with heavy gold-filled watch chain and fob in a custom-fitted presentation case. Circa 1923
The year was 1924, mafia groups still had a strangle on the country. A particular flapper girl was on a mission in New Orleans. Track down the target and finish him off. He owed far too much money to the group to be paid back. So it was up to the blonde woman to end him.
She was a rather talented young thing; A singer, and dancer, and an actress. But even with the rush of the life of stardom....something was missing.
She loved to kill.
The warmth of the blood, the coppery scent, the beautiful color it’d stain on the surfaces, it gave her a whole new level of an adrenaline rush! Which is why she didn’t even hesitate to join the mafia when offered a position.
After all, who’d think a little pretty lady like her could ever be a threat?
It was around 2 in the afternoon now, and the lead she had was that they were staying at an apartment nearby a street event, which meant she had to gain the target’s trust in order to convince him to be with her all alone. That’s when she’ll strike.
It was a band playing in the streets, some swingin’ jazz music. It was amazing, to be honest. Shame she had work to do, otherwise she could enjoy herself.
The music was in the air, fueling people in the streets to dance around with partners. And that’s when she spotted the male she was to kill; brown hair, almost as dark as chocolate, with hazel eyes and pale skin. He was dressed in a white vest over a pale yellow button up shirt. He had black pants and shoes to match, and the main clue that this was her target being the pocket watch he had in the chest pocket.
The blonde flapper girl grinned as she easily maneuvered her way through the crowed to her target; William Cox.
He was dancing with a pretty young red head until people started switching partners, so Mimzy took that chance to swoop in and hold his hands in hers. Despite the wine red gloves she had on, she could definitely feel the warmth right through the thin fabric that made her ache to make him cold.
Through an innocent, sweet smile, she cooed to him, “Care ta dance with a lil’ flappa gal?”
His hazel eyes screamed predator as the man gave her a wide, eager grin, and a single nod before pulling her close.
Hook, line, and sinker. This man was in her claws now.
With an equally wide grin, she allowed herself to get lost in the music with him, letting his hands wander her body as if she were completely unaware of what he was doing. Oh, how she craved his pain, to hear him scream as she grabbed his hand and broke it.
But she had to hold herself back.
The band had ended their last song before a break where everyone is moving left and right to get drinks, food, or cool off in the shade. Mimzy tugged on William’s shirt as she playfully batted her eyelashes, “Ya know, I have an apartment nearby we can...unwind in. At least until they start up tha music again. Care ta join me?”
The brunette merely grinned, bringing her hand up to his lips and kissing the back of her gloved hand, “Of course, I would never dream of allowing a young lady, such as yourself, to go off alone.”
“My, what a gentleman!” She exclaimed before they linked arms and were on their way to the apartment complex he resided in. Of course, she had no room here, but had previously scouted out the place and made sure a room on the floor level and away from the majority of the occupants was available.
Who knew picking a lock was so easy?
She looked at the faded number on the green door, 103, and opened the door. Strange he didn’t question why she had no keys, but perhaps he was just too fixated on her as she felt his gaze on her the entire time they walked.
Once they were inside, she quietly locked the door as William dove in for a kiss. She went along with it, her hands reaching up to comb her fingers through his hair as she let out a small giggle,
“Oh my, mista, ya don’t even know my name..!”
He merely chuckled at her words, “Is that so important? I know you didn’t just invite me here to swap names..”
Mimzy merely shrugged, right before he pulled her close and took a step towards the old bed that sat in the center of the room. The feather of her little headband tickled his face as she turned her head up towards him.
“Ya got me there, puddin’...I don’t care nothin’ for ya name.”
He could only let out a bark of laughter before spinning her around and pinning her to the bed by holding onto her wide hips. Her emerald hues stared up at him oh so sweetly as her right hand stayed by her side, the other reaching up to pull him down to kiss him.
He moved his hands down to the bottom of her skirt, feeling the smooth skin of her legs as her skirt was lifted ever so slightly, his hips pressing against hers.
And that’s when she struck.
With her skirt lifted, her right hand grabbed the knife she always had strapped to her thigh and plunged it into the man’s throat.
He stumbled back, grasping at his bleeding neck, as he tried to scream for help. But all that came out was watery garble. He was choking on his own blood.
He knocked over the small table by the covered window and the blood sprayed onto the walls and curtains, the lamp toppling over onto the floor with a loud crash.
She could only grin and watch as he flailed about like a dying trout, until he eventually collapsed onto the carpeted floor with little strength left.
Kicking him over with her foot, she giggled softly, “The Blood Roses send their regards, puddin’.”
She watched as the life faded from his eyes, and his body stilled.
Letting out a small sigh of disappointment that it was all over, she jolted when she heard a knock on the door. There’s no way anybody heard the commotion, and nobody stayed in this room! So who the hell was here?!
She quietly made her way to the window to peek out the curtain, careful not to rustle them.
