Despite his intensity, Ack is mindful of certain "working etiquette" as he is known to stop in the middle of a conflict to courteously greet others before going back to work. Much like his co-workers, Ack's wild mannerisms convey his deep devotion to his friends and loved ones as he defends his home and beloved department head, Stoick.
Ack seems to be able to switch easily between wild, aggressive battle mode to a genial non-aggressive greeting in seconds, then back again, as seen when he knocks down his boss' son Hiccup and nearly jinx him, then smiles and says "ARGGGHHHHH! Mornin'!".
