Your thoughts, comments and favorite books published in the 1970s?
Goodreads Recommends: 1971-1980! Mark II
The 1970s included the end of the Vietnam War and Watergate, causing a newfound cynicism about what the government was up to. But the Bicentennial sparked a resurgence in American patriotism. The Comics Code was relaxed, leading to more "relevance." Over in Japan, manga for older audiences became more of a thing. Role-playing games became a thing at specialty game stores and colleges. I moved from children's books to young adult.
Let's take a look at what Goodreads recommends to me based on the books I've shelved for this time period. Reblogs and replies welcome!

Your thoughts, comments and 1970s books I should add to my TBR pile?
Goodreads Recommends: 1971-1980!
The 1970s saw the U.S. lose the war in Vietnam, and then the Watergate scandal did in many people's faith in the probity of the federal government, which caused an upsurge in politically themed works with downer endings. 1976 was the Bicentennial, which brought about a wave of patriotic fervor and a spike of interest in history, particularly the American Revolution. The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan, something that would have knock-on effects for decades.
The Comics Code loosened up some, and the Bronze Age began sometime in here. Role-playing games started picking up speed, by the end of the decade, they were going mass-market. New Wave science fiction crested in the early part of the decade. On a personal note, as I moved into my teens, I read very few children's books.
