Samsung Galaxy S2 has no IMEI?
hay guys, i was at a mates house last week and he threw a very good phone in the bin. i asked what was wrong with it he said it didnt work. it had no scratches or anything it looked like new so i took it. with his permission of course. i charged it up, and the phone doesnt detect a network no matter what sim card is inserted into it. i checked for the IMEI number by dialing *# and all that appears on screen is a header saying "IMEI" but it doesnt display a number. so i went into the "about phone and status" menu and IMEI is listed as "unknown" so this is obviously the problem..... i have tried restoring the phone it doesnt work. i cant do a hard reset by doing the "vol+ home and power" keys as the home button doesnt seem to respond to anything?? i have also tried going into the phones service folder by dialing *# but the phone again just displays the header for the menu but no actual options on screen? the silly thing is it works perfectly apart from this issue, does anyone know the cause of this as iv never had a phone with this fault before? if it wasnt in such good condition id just throw it away but it looks like its just out of the box - its not new obviously as it would have been taken back by now. its a weird one......the phone doesnt appear to be rooted either - due to the non working home button that would be impossible anyway. any help, suggestions would be grately appreciated. thanks in advance guys. p.s if it helps, the phone was originally locked to the three network, it was apparently unlocked before this.
