What about writing do you enjoy most?

i think...

there are two things i enjoy most about my writing now

one is the moments of clarity when things come together in ways i did not expect. things i wrote years ago taking on additional meaning, things i could not have predicted manifesting in the writing and clarifying significant parts of the story or somehow leading up to bigger things i planned for later. being able to lean back and see the thing i have created is immensely rewarding, even if it’s an enormous amount of work and if i’m nowhere near done.

the second thing is seeing how it has inspired people. i always wanted to make something that would speak to people, that they’d find something worthwhile in, something that would make them pause and think. something that would exist in them after they stopped reading what i had written

that i have succeeded in this is immensely rewarding. i’m very grateful for the people who care about the things i have written.

Are there any characters you've written who even you hae?

yes, but to list their names would be a spoiler for chrono stars. suffice to say that they do certainly exist and you’ll be meeting them throughout the game

if dokani's boss battle was a dance-off, how would she dance?

she was raised as royalty, you have to remember -- she absolutely knows how to do various formal dances as a result of her upbringing. so her dance-off battle would probably reflect that. flowing, graceful movements with more deliberate slowness, the occasional spin, dancing solo and bombarding her enemies with spell after spell with every movement of her hands

nari: what does she find easiest to forge? what does she do when not smithing?

she could forge nails and horseshoes in her sleep, honestly. but she enjoys making tools more, because they go on to make even greater things.

when shes not smithing shes trying to keep deke out of trouble, mostly. she also likes walking through the crystal... idk what theyre called yet. farms.

How about 1 7 10 14 15 and 23 for Rinn?

1: their voice

thaurinn’s voice is definitely an alto range. it gets a little gravely when she’s thinking aloud or muttering to herself, but when she speaks clearly, it’s not as noticeable. she enunciates very clearly from all that diplomatic and theater training as well

7: how they like to dress

okay, thaurinn really likes flowy clothes. things she can move around in easily. she’s also a big fan of scarves and skirts. and of course she always has her little pilot’s hat from her sister

10: their fashion sense

not really the best. she just kind of wears what she wants to wear and what feels nice (as in sensation-wise -- how it feels on her body). she’d only wear something uncomfortable but fashionable if it was for some sort of important diplomatic thing

14: how they react to burning their tongue on food

she’d probably spit it out and then apologize and over-explain how it’s not because it tastes bad, it was just hot.

15: how they react to a brainfreeze

thaurinn would really not like the sensation of her mind freezing up for obvious reasons (i.e. her traumatic brain injury). it’s just not comfortable and feels a little... off to do things that her brain seems to react badly to on a physical level.

23: how they act when they're sick

definitely the type to shoulder through sickness as best she can and keep working. she can’t stand sitting still and doing nothing even if she doesn’t feel good

their smile

rare and 90% of time directed only at her child(ren). always small, subtle even, never showing teeth. smiles more with her eyes than her mouth.

their shortcomings

not terribly friendly. often focused on her goals to the exclusion of all else. very secretive (in the case of d&d!eugyne, dangerously so)

how they react to burning their tongue on food

mad at herself for being careless. doesnt outwardly react at all. will probably keep eating anyway, waiting for food to cool is a waste of time.

how they sleep

not well. shes in a constant state of stress and often wakes up in the middle of the night to check on arete. d&d!eugyne in particular has been having a lot of nightmares lately.

how they act when they’re sick

if the situation allows, she will take good care of herself. chances are though shell just keep going, especially if its just a cold. she only complains if it will benefit her in some way (ie. convincing someone to do something for her). regardless she will be very careful not to get her kid(s) sick.

their smile

somewhat gappy, very yellow, full of bugs, and rarer than a cephalopod fossil. she only grins if she’s just done something mean enough to be absolutely hilarious, in which case it’s a mischievous smirk, or if, somehow, something given her actual happiness. in that case, it’s a small, furtive twitch of the mouth, with maybe just a flash of yellowed teeth.

their greatest achievement

she once tripped a noble dressed in his fanciest clothes into a mud puddle and managed to escape before he could get back at her for it.

what they like to eat

she doesn’t get to eat much, due to her poverty and the general disdain for her existence. she probably eats a lot of bread, for which she would kill for jam. (she’s tried, but it didn’t end well.)

their embarrassing memory from years ago

She once unknowingly pulled a prank on her own mother post-Orian takeover. It was... unpleasant.
